i have a zc in my 91 civic hatch. im concerned that the oil in my car tends to dissapear and its not leaking through the oil pan or anything....can some let me know if it might be my piston rings or something like that ? i just want to know what to expect... or is it normal for the zc to burn up oil?

well i too have a ZC in my car. I have noticed that since i put it in it does burn a lot of oil. It really burnt alot for about the first 3 months...but has since died down. It still seems to be low every no and then. So to answer your question... yeah its normal for my zc to lose oil

The brown top ZC is setup just like the d16a1. SO i really doubt he would be using that. In fact, I have never heard of a 4th gen using one.

to answer back with more info..i have a the 135 hp ZC in my car with chikara headers / gutted cat / Bomz exhaust / stock e.c.u / and yest its the DOHC ZC it says so on the block stacmp!:)

also what kind of after maket parts are available for my ZC ?
i want to get some cam gear sprockets and maybe some cams aswell...
what do you people recommend and where can i find them

actually the black-top DOHC ZC is rated for 129 H.P. It is a good motor to turbocharge, and if the debate is whether to go turbo or nitrous, then go turbo without a doubt it is so much better than nitrous. I would put some "BARDS STOP-LEAK" in it and see what it does, it fixed my old car, '91 Talon, and my friends '96 Neon, and i mean if it doesn't fix it, it won't hurt it.

is it possible to make your own turbo set up with parts from junkyard cars such as mitus's and anything else with a turbo? if so where in the junkyard should i look and what cars should i be raping the parts from? how much am i looking to spend ? do they make turbos for the ZC ..you know ready made to install and what not?

The 92-95 Si Greddy turbo was originally made for a ZC...so it will fit with 'minor' modifications. Your idea and my idea of minor may be different. I personally don't like buying shit I have to rig to make it work.
There are some peeps (Dropshop??) that take HF manifolds and turn them into custom turbo setups. Since the ZC is a d-series, it will prolly work OK (port matching may be needed ?? :confused: )
You can do a junkyard thing also, but you would need welding skills and shit. read first statement above...i.e. ghetto :alien2:
Hope that helps - and oh yeah - on the ZC HP issue - I have seen everything from 129 - 137 HP. I just say 130HP and leave it. it might make 137 with I/H/E on it ;)

My understanding with the ZC is that there are several ways to do a homemade turbo kit. the HF manifold works, but the CX manifold from a 92-95 works better, flows better, and is made more like a real turbo manifold. It also requires no adapter plate to work with most turbos. Also, if you check out www.z10.com, you can find oil fitting to eliminate any welding you may need to do, and check out www.homemadeturbo.com or www.quickhonda.net for some tips on getting going. i am told that the 2nd gen turbo from the eclipses works well, and is small enough that you won't blow your rods and bearings (which are brittle and under-reinforced on the d-series motors) from overboosting. my research has told me that you should boost no more than 7-8 psi. any more than that, rebuild your bottom end.
i am getting ready to do this to my zc motor, as soon as I come up with the $$ for a decent turbo and all of the oil fittings.
