engine replacement

I love camaros and have wanted an F body since I was 10. On my 16th birthday my dream came true and I got a 2002 V6. I love the car, but now it is a year later and looks don't interest me like they used to. I need speed as well. I am wanting to change my car from a V6 to a V8. I know the practical thing would be to sell the car and go buy on older model V8. However, I don't have the money to pay the insurance on a V8 so I'm probably not going to report the change in engines to insurance. And 2 I have already spent a large sum of money on audio equipment (DVD player, componet sets, subs, amp). I was wondering if anyone could answer a very important question for me. I need to know what parts I will need to convert my car form a flashy V6 to a true headturning V8 LS1. I know the basics and my friend is a car expert on doing the work. But, all we could determine we would need is Engine, Transmission, Wiring harness, Computer, Engine mounts, Engine harness, Fuel tank, Front Springs (obviously the V8 is heavier). I'm not so sure about what else I would need maybe exhaust, fuel injector, and throttle body, If you know anything about what parts I would need or can put me in contact with someone who would I would greatly appreciate it. E-mail [email protected] Thanks in advance.

Seabass,
I very much doubt you are going to find anyone that is going to recommend that V6 to V8 upgrade. There are simply too many changes required. An LS1 crate (new) will run you about 5-8k, depending on the cam and heads you go with. That does not include the other required components, new computer, wiring harness, motor mounts, intake, MAF, throttle body,.... You then have to replace the transmission, 4l60E or M6, driveshaft (aluminum), and rear-end. You are easily looking at about 10k in parts alone. As for putting it together?, good luck. It's definitely possible but I think you would have to track down a drivetrain assembly guy from Canada.
My advise would be to sell your V-6 and buy a used LS1 Z28. Insure the Z28 under your fathers coverage, and have him list you as a secondary driver. That should help out with the insurance costs a bit. Sorry I couldn't offer any encouraging words but that swap is not easy.

If you can't afford the price hike in insurance i'm sure you can't afford the swap to a V8.
Like mentioned, it would be very expensive for just the parts, and would need to buy/rent a number of tools if you can do everything yourself (i somehow doubt you can, no offense).
Don't worry about going fast, that can wait till later. Of course this is coming from a 17 (18 at end of january) with a '98 formula, headers, exhaust, gears, intake, and cam (TR230/224 111LSA) as well as other smaller things.
