Ugly cars

OK, call me odd (everyone else does), but I have this wild love of UGLY cars. I always have. I think it came from loving the old Datsun 200SX my uncle used to have. Of course I loved Ferrari's and stuff when I was little, but I was the only kid that passionately wanted something really ugly like a Nissan Multi or AWD Tercel Wagon. I still love them, for some unknown strange reason. I'm just now getting into models, and I don't want all the Vipers and Skylines and Ferrari's, I want all the old 80's dumpmobiles :D

Anyone else have any really strange automotive loves like this??

Alright, I think I need to clarify.....

No, I don't like ALL ugly cars...Azteks and Echos and stuff still suck....

The cars I'm talking about are like 80's Japanese cars and stuff, like this:

When I saw you put another post up in this thread, I was afraid you were going to announce that I had your 6 or something at first!! *lol*

If you like that, then you'd love another one "my" cars whose name is quite aptly "The Ghetto Hoopdie" Also known as a 1989 Eagle Premier. Now there is one ugly car, but good pick-up for such a junky little car! Even fun to drive as an automatic! :)

Eagle didn't even make it onto this list of Forums! Gotta love that one... ;)

We get those butt ugly bastard cars here in NZ too :bloated: :bloated: :bloated:

Yup true..
Luckily We don't get the Aztek in NZ but we have the ugly bastard AU Falcon to compensate.. And I bet theres a heck of a lot more AU Falcons in NZ than theres Azteks in US...We also get the Echo but theyre not very popular (small cars usually arent) here, actually I havent seen one in a long time. But New Zealand is Japanese Import country so we do have some really ridiculous - looking things driving around, like the Mazda 121 Revue:bloated: My mate's sister has one, and it actually isnt such a bad performer...then again I only tried it in a deserted carpark where noone would see me driving it:o

gang$tarr

small cars aren't popular at all in north america.... go to europe! there are millions of little ugly cars everywhere.... seems like 90% of the cars in europe are little hatchbacks :apuke:

I don't recall the Eagle Premier ever being classified as ugly....then or now. It was actually a very attractive car when it came out.

When you said you liked ugly cars, I was thinking stuff like the original Datsun 200SX (much less attractive than the one you pictured) or the (..heaving....) Datsun F10.

I've got a place in my heart for odd cars, but true ugly is not one of the characteristics I can stomach. The Aztek definitely falls into this category...as do the two Datsuns I mentioned. You'll have to give me a few more examples...but I can't think of too many that fall into this group. Even the Echo's not this bad.

Heep

Heh...some more examples of cars that I like that most people classify as ugly include 70's and 80's Cressidas, 1st gen Supras, stuff like that. Most people say they're ugly, but I'm a fan :D

So mostly late 70's and 80's Japanese cars...

Gotta love that RR V12! They have one at our Avaition museum valued at a cool 13 Million CDN. and that was a few years ago. Some millionaire around here has restored one but, he collapsed his Lading gear last week because he was "drinking and flying". The plane is still fixable but not the same, it's also only about 1-3 Million.

Yes, A topic I know! The BF-109, which you were talking about right?and the Messerschmidt ME 262 were both amazing except for landings regarding the ME 262 (That's how most of them were lost) The F4U Corsair was cool cause it was carrier-born. Also the reason for those funny-ass wings is because it had a 16ft (dia.) Propeller! So for landing clearance it needed to gain some height in the legs. These planes were awesome, the sound amazing (Most are V12's producing in excess of 1400HP!) and they fly pretty well too. I Still think one of the coolest ones was the Focke Wolfe FW190 'Long Nose" it had an 18 cylinder engine and was quite the feared beast! For anyone who cares at this point, the most common German PLane you see in war Movies is either a BF-109 (Essentially a German Spitfire) and the Ju-42 or Ju-88 "Stuka" that's the crazy dive bomber in enemy at the Gates.

See what a childhood around aviation gives you? (Sorry for any Run-ons or 100% Grammatically Wrong Sentences)

primera man

The ME262 was the first jet powered fighter plane in any war wasn't it ??

olds88
10-06-2001, 05:28 PM
the me262 was one of sevral jet fighters developed including a rocket powered fighter that used volitial liquids to propel it. it was sutch a bad setup that most of them blew ou on the run way geting re fueled, anny ways the me 262 was the worlds first sucseful operational jet fighter
