Hey that rhymes:D

Ok, so what do you think will be likely 1/24 car models released by Tamiya this year (not what you'd like to see)? Perhas we should run a sweapstake:hehehe:

Here are my candidates, discuss;

Mazda RX8

Zonda

Hiroaki did mention that Tamiya were considering these two...

I really don't think they would release the GT-R as the car itself isn't released until 2004.

I would expect to see another R34 GT-R JGTC car hopefully the Xanavi GT-R:D

Some of what i'd like to see in plastic in 2003. Some old, some new...

Some of these are in Resin, or in a curbside kit.. but I want a full plastic kit...

Audi's and Bentley's are not going to happen at Tamiya, this has already been hashed and put to bed by Tamiya, license fees too high.

Probably because the licensing fee is cheaper on just shells

Audi and any other company that keeps their licensing fee high are really kicking their own butts, model kits do nothing but increase the popularity/recognition of their brand.

This is just my pure guess, but the Carrera GT and the Mercedes are highly likely, because Tamiya itself said they want to make them, they have less licensing problem, and they are expected to sell well. :)
GT-R, most likely, because Tamiya didn't miss R32, R33 or R34, but probably not the prototype, but the production one, due at Tokyo Auto Salon 2004.
RX-8: Detailed info is released from Mazda, and almost all Japanese magazines are covering it with excitement this week. It's got unique doors, great exterior and interior design to show in 1/24, so even a curbside might sell well. 2200 yen with open doors in April, how does it sound?

May I add a few?
Lamborghini Gallardo to go with their Modena Kit.
It's been long time, since Tamiya released a Lamborghini, and if they skip the Murcielago, give us the Gallardo!
Personally, I want the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, too.

But Ford & Holden are entering the BA and the XY Next year so if Tamiya made the AU and VX they would be out of date.

I doubt that Tamiya would make them though, the V8Supercars aren't as popular worldwide as the NASCAR & JGTC :(

As you metioned Tamiya's interest in the SLR and Carrera GT that's why I included those as likely subjects. They have produced a number of Porsche and Merc subjects over the years so licensing shouldn't be an issue here. Infact, perhaps we could add a couple more in here - the Cayenne, as you mention, and the Merc SL. Its been a while since Tamiya have done a 4x4 so the Cayenne could follow on from the Cherokee and such like.

The RX-8 I would have thought would be extremely likely from them, again to follow on from their other Mazda models in the past. Like the Skyline's, Tamiya have produced the last few generations of RX-7's to which the RX-8 is the successor i understand. For the same reasons i'm certain the GT-R will be made by them at some point in the future. But as you pointed out the production version would be the more likely subject, so perhaps we won't see it from them this year.

The Gallardo would be great but i cant see it coming from them. Afterall, the Diablo and Murcielago were missed.

Dan pointed out another very likely subject which i missed - the revamped Impreza. It won't take much for Tamiya to re-mold their WRC kit and by the way in which they have kept up with the Pug versions and the revamp of the 350z i think this is almost certain.

would have thought that some1 would have brought out a trans kit 4 the 2003 subaru rally car, as alll the differance i noticed on the show car at this years network Q rally was the lights and grill.

how about a new focus RS ??? that would fit in with tamiyas way of thinking. After all they do road going evos and subarus so why not the new ford

The McLaren build Mercedes SLR: YES please ! !:licker:

The AMG powered Zonda: YES please ! !:licker:

And are my other suggestions
For Tamiya, the new Mercedes SL

http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/2491670,1294,8697,00.jpg

For Fujimi, the new Mercedes E-Class - they did the previous model as well, so why not do the new one.

G35 coupe! very good idea!! otherwise known as the V35 Skyline Coupe in Japan, so it's a definate possibility. btw, it wasn't Car and Driver's car of the year, they have no such award. it was one of their "10 Best Cars of 2002", in which the Z was named one of the 10 as well.

another idea: since we've been seeing tons of other JGTC car models being thrown around every which way, i think someone needs to finally produce a kit of the Toyota MR-S JGTC, and also a kit of the racing version of the C-West RX-7 wouldn't do any harm either. another idea: the Advan sponsored Toyota Altezza driven in the N1 racing series by the same man who's won the D1 drift championship the last 2 years, Nobuteru Taniguchi (in the drift series, he drives the red HKS S15 that i posted a picture of on the second page of this thread.)

I have a few votes for cars that NEED kits.

Lamborghini Miura in bi-scale (1/24-1/25) : Am I the only one who thinks that the dated Fujimi quasi-Jota tooling needs to be dumped in Tokyo Bay?

Morgan Aero 8: C'mon. Tamiya has a Plus 4. And there's the 1/16th Minicraft Three-wheeler. Throw us Moggie guys another bone.

Triumph Spitfire GT-6: Michelotti lines, powerful straight-six, Le Mans success.... WAKE UP HELLER!!! C'mon Revell of Germany!!!

A GOOD 1969 AMX 390: Sorry JoHan, but the old Shirley Shahan Drag-On Lady kit has passed its prime. After grafting on the Revell 1969 Camaro front-end onto my replica stock AMT 1972 Nova project, I can whole-heartedly say that molded-in front suspensions BITE THE BIG ONE!

Ferrari 550 Maranello/575M Prodrive Maranello GTS: Tamiya, these lovelies are way past due.

Chrome Bumper MGB GT: Aoshima has the MGB tooling, how hard is it to add the Pininfarina designed roof? (and yes, I know that there's a resin conversion kit out there, either All American Models or Replicas and Minatures Co. of Maryland carries it at about $45 a conversion, on top of $20 for an Aoshima MGB kit)

Are any of these unreasonable requests? I mean, if Revell can announce a Escalade and 1966 Chevelle Wagon for 2003, then surely they can consider America's other Two Seater.
