Hey, can you guys/gals help me out with a watch. My most recent one is a Fossil *coughcrapcough*. I'd like a metal analog one. Are there any brands you guys like? Thanks in advance...

I have a Guess watch that I got for free :D

It works great, only had to change the battery once and I've had it for a long time.

I have a fossil now, and it is a metal analog, but it also has a digital readout of the time. i agree it is a piece of crap, one part has broken off but i'm too lazy to send it in to get it fixed. but all the girls say its their favorite watch.

Rolex Submeriner. The two tone looks awsome and runs like a champ. Its my favorite since it can be worn anywhere. Aside from that, I have a Seiko thats been running for almost nine years now with only one batery change.

I have a Citizen AR Chronograph watch, with an orange face. It is pretty nice, looks good, and is not to bulky. I also have a fossile that I have had since I was 17 I have had to replace the battery once. Other that that, its great.

IWC is the brand youre looking for. I have the Anniversary model, in steel with 3 small integrated dials. It goes with pretty much anything you wear. You can also buy a rolex in steel but i'd prefer IWC design.:smoker:

Just brought a XONIX which is meant to be a new brand and pretty good.
Has all the whistles and bells and good for 100m in water.(Real handy for someone like me who sinks when they swim)

I go though watches very quickly due to work etc and replace them nearly every 1-2 years.

well, I don't have one but I like the Rolex GMT Master. it looks really god in Blue and Red. I also like less expensive Omega wtaches (thats Bond's watchmaker) his runs for about $900 CDN.

What's wrong with a $20 Timex?

Nothing, but ask yourself this question, "What is wrong with a Ford Escort when compared to a Ferrari?

Heep
09-29-2001, 07:49 PM
Yeah, but the Escort is the daily driver. The Ferrari is only for special occasions.

It's like the watches from Men in Black. I've only worn it six times. I don't ahve many "special occasions," apparently.

that's the problem with them though Thy are the special occasion watches. Your can't where them like eeyday watches cause if they get scratced or broken, there's 1K upwards down the drain depending on what kind of watch you have. They're status Symbols, that's why If I ever got a Diablo, I'd get a balck Rolex Submariner to compliment it.

Thanks for the info guys. I went ahead and bought a Timex. *crosses fingers* hope this one lasts. That darn fossil was tarnishing my arm, dadgumit. it looked like I was badly bruised.Oh well, I don't think that'll happen again. keep posting what watch you have for comparison purposes if you like. :P

I have a nice Timex, analong, steel with a black face, and a couple of little dials in it. have had it for about 4 years so far, no battery change yet. cost me about $60, but the girls generally like it.

I think i'm gunna ask for a Rolex for christmas..... the submariner is nice but I like the more classic designs. I think I'd ask for a yellow gold Rolex President style watch, but i don't know how much they cost. Do you guys know?

for some reason when i go to the jewellery place, they never tell me the price. I tried one on with my dad and they didn't tell me the price. My dad bought his president at the same place.... i want one like his, just without the diamonds

YogsVR4
09-30-2001, 05:34 PM
The Submariner is a more all occasion kind of watch. You cant wear the presidential nearly as many places. Look for around 20K new for a full sized presidential. (Gold - add more for Platinum)

I got a swiss army one, and it's nice. I also have some russian watch, the damn thing is probably bullet proof. It weighs a ton.

Well if u want an affordable Rolex, get a GMT-Master II(in steel). This is the one I've got (was a graduation present). But if you want something more exclusive I suggest that you go for a Blancpain or a Vacheron et Constantin. And remember that a real watch always must be mechanical.

and the reason they dont tell you the price...its just like with buying Ferraris..if you have to ask how much it costs, that usually means you cant afford it:smoker:

Too bad you already bought one. I wear mechanical Russian watches. I bought my 17 jewel for 20$. I've also a 31 jewel self winder which is very attractive. These watches look like very expensive German pieces (since they more or less are) but cost very little. You can find some on www.sadcom.com or sovietski colliction.

no it's not that cause my dad bought his at the same place and they know him by name, so they know i'm his son. They take me seriously when i go in there, they just like don't tell me the price like it doesn't matter or something

Tag watches are real nice. A little expensive, but worth it.

I'm much more into the titanium and stuff than the tacky gold and diamonds and stuff. That's like gold trim on cars...:apuke: :apuke:

That's why you go to some place official and pay the right amount for the real thing.

That's a nice wtach gna$tarr, you should get a Blue or Black submariner or a Daytona, but I don't know how much those are, probably about the same as a president.

gang$tarr

i was doin some reasearch..... a submariner is like 1/10 the price of a gold president
looks like i'll be asking for a submariner :D
i like the blue, it looks cool.... the submariner would be my second choice after the president anyways

Porsche

I don't know, there's just something about a Blue Submariner that intrigues me. It's sorta like a magnet, one powerful-ass magnet. I would definately recommend that but, I do also like Bond's Omega even though it is a lot less.

I used to sell watches and i would recomend a sekio - how much are you looking to spend - i have 2 sekios - one i bought 2 years ago for 350 and a new one a month ago for 495 - now i didnt pay "retail" price b/c where i bought it they sell it cheaper than anyone else - both of mine have been kinetic watches - the old one was strickly kinetic ( that means that it works by storing energy - you never have to replace a battery b/c there isnt one ) my new one is a Kinetic Auto Relay - which is basically the same thing except that if you set it down for *i think* 72 hours the hands stop but you can pick it up from that moment up until 4 years later and shake the watch and it automatically goes to the correct time... i love it - i think you can buy them from the same place on the internet as i bought it in store - www.jewelrywarehouse.com - try it out - i can honestly say that they are VERY trust worthy - (my grandparents own it and have owned it for over 30 years - ) - just a suggestion -- oh and just in case you are wondering why the prices are cheaper - my grandparents do so much business with sekio that they give my grandparents specials so that they are exclusive to the prices on the watches here in south carolina - no one esle can sell them for the same price....

I remember seeing commercial for that Seiko auto relay thing...I wanted one then and want one now. Either that or Bond's Omega...that watch is cool too.
