What makes your car special?

Why do you like your car? What makes it special in your eyes?Did you choose that make/model,and if so,why? What is it that inspires marque loyalty, even though none of us can truly test enough different cars to make an informed choice?

It's paid for!!:D :D :D I got it by trading some spoiled kid a box of model cars for it:sun: :sun: I used to counsel him and he felt like I helped him. Not only did I get a free car but I also helped change a person's life. Pretty damn cool:coolguy: :coolguy:

Because I got the last year that they made nice looking civics imo, and it's a 4 door which I think looks better and fits my needs better. And it only had 13 miles on it when I bought it, so I'm the first one to test drive it and so I feel like it's all mine. :D

I'll agree with you there Kicker-san! I quite like the looks of any 6th gen. Especially the coupe. My favourite is the 5th gen hatch in the lighter blue, followed by coupes. I also like Del Sols.

My G is special because..
It has a clock on the instrument panel so I don't have to switch off "ID3 tag view" on the mp3 player to see what time it is.
Every control in it is in the "exact right place". The steering wheel is perfect. (Try driving a 97 Dodge Grand Caravan and you'll understand what a shitty steering wheel feels like.)
It's Silver. It handles well, crashes well, accellerates well, is comfortable, looks good, is reliable, and is rare enough to be misrecognized. It has an enormous trunk for the size of the car. Everyone assumes it cost way more than it actually did..
It's been mistaken for a 99 before...and it's a 94. :)
It's mine. All MINE!! Muahahahaha!!

Hmm interesting question:
Ok,
Its cheap.
Cheap to fix, cheap to run, and offers amazing performance for a very cheap price.
It has a small wussy 4cyl lawn mower for an engine with a Torque curve that starts with a deep rumble of induction noise at 1,000rpm and ends with screaming impersonataion of a sewing machine at 8,200rpm.
I have yet to drive anther car with as flexiable an engine, and Iv driven most things from Lotus' to Toyotas, from V8s to Turbo'd 6s.
It has an amazingly well balanced chassis that always does what I tell it do, it feels like the suspension was set up by enginers with a desire to go racing, and not accoutants and marketing twits who wanted the car to be safe and idiot proof.
And it so totaly plain, boring and common in appreance that no one pays it any attention at all.
Thats what? 4 things I really like about it.
I could write a list sveral pages long with things that are wrong with it, it could have a bigger engine, it could have more hp, it could be RWD, it could have more room in the frount etc etc but I dont really care.
Becauses its the car that best suits my current situation, and as soon as that changes and allows me to buy a real car I will.
(oh and its great for winding people up who think I take things seriously, :finger: )

I guess the fact that when I bought her, she was completely stock. Nothing done. I tuned her into the rice-rocket she is now. I lowered her. I put the GTR wing on the back. I put in the Altezzas. I put on the Magnaflow 2.5 catback. I created her. She's my creation. Good enuff reason for ya?

Yea, that's coo, (I saw your "I don't street race any more" post, which is good) but it's just that you referred to it as a "rocket", which implies that it's fast.
And lowering, 'tezzas, catback and wing are the stereotypical ricer mods. But it's good that you're doing it for you and not because you have any delusions of grandeur.
Anyway, most of us have no room to talk. The only "mods" I have are:
Black leather armrest to match black center console and to contrast with rest of tan leather in car. :bandit:
K&N filter.
New tires. :) (Coopers, not racing tires or fancy tires or anything.)
Famous G20 "Heavy trunk mod"
Kenwood mp3 headunit.
Body-color lower-air dam.
Brand new hood 'cause the old one got vandalized.
Cool "Dealer cut off window stickers with a razor" tint look.

When you replace things with the same thing it was before it isn't really modding your car. :D

My old tires were Michelins...duh.
And my old hood had these awesome scratches from when I was rain-x-ing the windsheild (so the wipers were up) and decided to do some engine scrubbing while I was still at the carwash. :o
KIDS!! Never never raise the hood while the wipers are pulled off the glass!!
My rules for "modding": If it costs me a ton of money and/or time, and it relates to the car (or preferably attaches to the car) in some way, it's a mod. ;)

So, replacing motor/suspension/exhaust/header etc, are not mods?

Not if you are just replacing them with another 'stock' item because the original is worn out/damaged.....

What if your 1.6 litre engine kicks the bucket so you replace it with a 2.0 that was OEM on a different trim line of your exact same car?
edit: AND my "perfectly functional" airfilter was completely full of dirt and due for 90,000 mile replacement anyhow :flipa: so I replaced it with a K&N I got used for dirt cheap ($10) from a fellow G20er because the K&N is longer lasting than conventional and is non-disposable.

So.....aside from the mods [and the debate on what constitutes a mod:bloated: ],Why is your car special? Now, my car could not possibly be special, could it?Well....yes,it is! It's special to me because I am familiar with it.I can find the ignition effortlessly in the dark,I can operate all of the controls without taking my eyes off the road, the seat is set at precisely the right spot and the engine responds predictably to every command.I have a good idea of just where the limits of the suspension and steering are,and can judge the speed almost perfectly from the engine tone.My car is special to me because it is reliable as hell and wonderfully nondescript. It's a totally neutral vehicle, one that I can park almost anywhere and it will blend into it's surroundings.Oh...and it's also highly unattractive to joyriders and wheel thieves.:D

FIAT MArea JTD Weekend- Practical, reliable, quick (for a diesel) looks cool IMO, nice chassis, well equipped
Alfa Romeo 156 2.5- The best drivers car for under 30,000 Euros (At least the best practical drivers car), FAST, Sweet induction noise, the worlds best looking sedan, comfy, suprisingly relaible, safe, luxurious without being over-equipped, AWESOME chassis, reaonably unique and the fact it was mine (Although I'm getting a Sportivo V6 soon)
Thing that need improving- needs to be RWD, Needs to be a GTA
