purchasing a '85 325E

I'm looking at a 85 325E w/ 161K miles. It is a 5spd. It seems like the gears are pretty loose, it seems like it should be easier to shift in the different gears. It just feels sloppy. Also reverse is very difficult to shift into. When I drove it the second time the dealer had just pressure washed the engine. when I accelerated into first gear all the power dropped off and then it came back. It continued to do this. It idles fine but when you push on the throttle it loses power. The dealer thinks he got something wet when it was pressure washed. Thanks for any suggestions.
