Aoshima Toyota Aristo V300 Falcon Finished

This is the last Aoshima model I will make. In my experiences they have many fitment problems with accessories like grilles and clear lenses.

Anyway, This model took me around a month, on and off, to finish. 2 weeks of it was dedicated to spraying with Duplicolor classic white, and then rubbing through to the primer, and having to strip the paint, then sanding, and painting again with Testors gloss white.

Overall build is pretty good, and the wheels I especially like.

ALso, the front lip cracked, and I had to form a secondary one around it with epoxy putty. I'd say it's not too bad for my first try with making parts with putty. :D

I see what you mean by the lights...not a good fit at all

i love the body kit included in that kit. i'm thinking of buying that kit off of HLJ, would you recommend it to me? i'd be up to sanding down the lenses to fit if i had to. btw, ne pas de rear-view mirrors.:flipa:

Flaws in the kit:
Front and rear bumpers are flimsy plastic, and you'll probably need putty to keep them attached to the body.
Fitment of the accessories.
Window trim grooves aren't very deep which makes masking them difficult.
For some reason my wheels kept falling off. (probably my fault)
If you go by the premade holes and nubs for the front bumper, you'll have a roughly 2mm wide gap that shouldn't be there. Cut off the nubs and glue in the bumper, and later on fill in the small gap with putty.
Intercooler isn't large enough to fill the airdam, and make for a better look.

Pros:
Looks good when you're done.
Wheels are very nice. fit nicely in the wheel arches.
Interior is nicely detailed.
Decals are very nice.
All non-body parts are easy to assemble and fit good.

I lost the rear view mirrors when I had to CSC it :( both went RIGHT down the drain.
[crappy excuse] my fingers are too big for me to sand down the light lenses :sun: [/crappy excuse]

it looks good, the rims look COOL. For the side mirrors, I think you can make some nice small mirrors using putty.

Looks nice! Those wheels are called Cerberus and were sold as a wheel kit a couple of years ago, and sold out quickly. Maybe Aoshima will reissue them soon, I have one set and they are nice 18":)

Love that dual exhaust. That car came with a GT wing right?

Excellent job! Note about the headlight lenses: You may have disturbed the tolerances set by Aoshima engineers with so many takes on the paint job, the layers of paint probably interfered with the fitment, on my Aristo they fit pretty good.

Yeah it came with a GT Wing, but I'm not really a fan of using wings, spoilers unless its on a pure race car. I never thought about entering this in the contest; you guys think I should anyway?

Kit came out awesome, considering all the flaws that were mentioned! You should totally enter this car into the contest!

Looks great! I loose mirrors all the time :D , my dog eats most of them.
I wasn't very happy with my first Aoshima kit, HKS Kansai Skyline GTR, very weak plastic and crappy fitments.
