Why isnt Tamiya polish having no effect?

I am using Tamiya polish on my model and it seems to be having absolutely no effect on the body, I used compound on one part to see if anything would change but still effect, I also lightly sanded one part and it still had no effect, why is this happening?

Im using tamiya model wax on tamiya TS-51 Telefornica(Sp?) Blue.

Do you sand thoroughly before using Tamiya compound?
Whatever the brand is, polishing compound has microscopic grains, that scratches the surface to get rid of tiny tiny bumps, that you can't really see. If the bump is too big for the compound to handle, there's visually no effect.
So, you have to sand the surface like the photo below.

In the picture above, you can still see some spots, that the sand paper can't reach.

But in this picture, the center part is thoroughly sanded, and it's reach to polish.
To sand the body like this, it has to have enough paint thickness. The sand paper, I use is Tamiya 2000 grit. I don't like to sand the body color, so I always apply 7 coats of clear. When sanding, try not to touch the edges or small details, such as washer nozzles.

Edit: No polishing on metallic color, or you'll ruin the paint. It has to be clear coated.

I didnt use clear coat, do you have to use it?

Er, I hope that was a typo because the wax WILL have no effect as to the smoothness of the paint. :D

Im sorry i didnt clarify this, i meant there is no effect on how shiny the paint is, if i use compound it does what its supposed to but then the wax does not make the paint shinier, sorry bout that.

WAX does not make ur car shinier, it's a protectant.

use the compound to make it shiny
