Hey everyone, I will just use this one thread to show all of my updates on my Mustang project for a friend. They are getting back on the 4th so I want to have it done by the 3rd. There will probably be no modifications other than I already shaved off the spoiler connections! There are no new pics of the interior since a few months ago when I posted them because I used a gloss paint and didn't have a cleaner. I will be asking my mom for some oven cleaner in a little bit to try to take off all the interior paint. This was my first stage of priming and I will be doing anoter coat in a few mins.

Oh yeah, in a previous thread I had mentioned that I had lost the e brake and the shifter which I still haven't found yet! I will be taking one of my shifters from an integra and putting it instead! Also I still have to figure out how to take off one of the valve covers I glued on wrong :(

I was wondering were there any parts that didn't fit? Also how was the height stock? Did you lower it? If so how hard was it? I can't stand most stock heights....
thanks!
Oh yeah do you have any pictures?

Nice, I want to get a new mustang kit, love the shape but it definatly doesn't have the same impact as the 60s and very early 70s mustnags.

Well the only reason why I am doing this one is because my friend really wants a mustang so I am making it for her lol. That is the only reason why I'm doing it and it will be my first complete model. But I do have a nice JDM ITR and USDM ITR that I am working on. Well the USDM ITR hasn't even been opened ;)
*Sorry if this post sounds like I don't really want to make this model, but I am having fun building this one even though it has been somewhat frustrating! ;). Also afer reading it sounds like I have an attitude which I don't lol.*

To my knowledge, all parts fit very well. Stock height was pretty sport-ish, and looked just right. But after I decided to repaint mine, I junked out the suspension and put in a truck rear end and made a transverse a-arm setup on the front, all fours have no brakes  and are on shelby series 1 chrome 5 spokes. Sorta like a drag car i suppose.

There is nothing wrong with the classic mustangs of the generation of the one I am doing. I use to like mustangs when I was younger since my dad use to own a 68(?) Mustang with the best engine so I wanted one for a little while, but since it was rwd and I live in a wintery area it wasn't worth the hassle. And do not stay I am being stereotypical because I do have 5 friends who have or had Mustangs. They all had tranny problems and many other misc problems. I still think the ones I had mention look great just not ealy my style. If someone gave me a great deal on one, I'd pick it up but thats about it. And no I am not a person who is all import, since a lot of my friends do own domestics.

Hey Clate,
Looks good, I got one "in-the-works" but never got around to finish it.........and I did make a dragster out of my first Mustang kit,
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/743792DSC00343.jpg
I don't  know what happen to my rear spoiler or rear tailights........ I guess they fell off.
BTW, I love both imports and domestic cars! I love the rumble of a V-8 in the morning, as well as the sound of an import! I just don't like it when the guy attempts to make his/her car "look fast" when they didn't do any real engine mods...........

Good to see some people aren't centered on one type of car only, I think they are very stupid to not widen their horizons on which cars they like, its a matter of opinion I know but there is no need to say bad things about them. Anyway, I didn't actually say anything about that.."topic" anyway. That stang looks awesome Hono! What engine is that? How'd you get smoked front lights  . I will get one of those soon, I may pick one up in a week or so when I get my 59 Cadillac :D

Hey do you have pics of the undercarriage? :)
Yeah I love all cars too. I can't stand when people are narrow minded. Its just some cars just aren't top on my list even if I do like them. I can like a car and still not want to own it, I know it seems wierd but sometimes its better to have it as a car you just like and have that fantasy of actually driving it because sometimes once you drive a car that you thought you absolutely loved...is changes :(

Well since I didn't get a model for christmas I could continue working on the one that is due Dec 2. The dark blue pics are the same exact car taken within a few minutes of the light colors, its just the light colored ones are when I used the flash. The dark blue ones aren't that clear because it was more important just to get the real color.

Thanks everyone for the comments. If you could only really see the interior and engine bay up close. The interior I did in normal black(looks glossy) which I don't really care for but I know my friend that I am giving to won't mind, and then the engine I messed up glueing something on and then I lost a few parts so I just glued the hood one :P. Then today when I thought I could finish it up, it seems like I am missing the front shocks  I can't believe it. This model has been a complete pain! Next time I will be a lot more organized! hehe. I guess that is what happends when you have it at your house, bring it to college, and then bring it back home.
I will should have final pictures this weekend hopefully!
*Honoturtle* Could you also take pics of the front suspension? Since mine just doesn't seem right at all :( Thanks inadvance!*

Well everyone I ran into a problem. I can't find the front springs. I can't get the shocks to fit on right to the other piece. Also when painting the trim around the windows I messed up! I'm really considering Chopping the top like originally because of these windows. Is there anyway to safely get the paint off the windows? I'm so lucky I still have a week left to finish it! I want to have it done this weekend though :( It only needs the suspension work and then the body painted!!! Ohh soo close but yet soo far away :( :( Here are some pics

Its still all good, I can't help you with the windows part because i've never stuffed them up. Thats a nice blue, are Testors spraypaints better then Tamiya? Or are they as good?
clatescivicr

I'm not sure if testors are better than Tamiya, since I've never use Tamiya paints. I remember seeing a few topics that that you don't wantto leave testors alone for a long time or they go bad, unlike the Tamiya. Hopefully someone else will chime in and confirm this. Thanks for the comments. I picked up the blue at my local "Michaels" in the US. Also a lot they have 40%-50% off coupons that my mom cuts out for me so when I need to buy models or parts I just use them(A nice little tip for people in the US)
I will be working some more on this project when I get back from work today!

To get the extra paint off the window, take a toothpick and gently try to scratch off the extra paint that got on the window. I've done this numerous times and it works. Just be sure to be gentle so it doesn't scratch the plastic.

I was curious could I put a small amount of paint thinner on a paper towel a whipe it off? I know I have done this on the body and haven't had a problem with it but I'm hesitant to do it to the windshields. If I definet;y knew I could get another one of these models I would do it, but I'm cut short for time and the place I normally get my models is all out of them :(

well today I figured that I would finish today to end up SCRATCHING the windshield and the rear windshield!!!! I try to use my dads special sand paper but it took out the "heavy" scratches but put mini scratches in and then I guess I was pushing too hard and I had tiny tension cracks :( :( And I have to have it done by this Sat at the latest! So tomorow it looks like I'm going out and buying another mustang..... :( Anyone have any other ideas?

Today after driving 45 mins and stopping at 4 places I finally found the mustang model! Once I opened it up one of the windows weas slightly scratched!! Oh well its not that noticable and I'm just lucky I have it lol. Now I can practice on this mustang without windows once I'm done this weekend! :D

Well everyone, it didnt' get finished! I can't believe it I have over 40 hours into this model in less than 2 weeks. I started rushing at the end which I needed to, but I know I really shouldn't have! Even without that I can't get the body to sit right and the dash comes up so that the windshield can't fit! I had but I put too much pressure on the windshield and created these small diamond like cracks.
*UPDATE*
Since it wasn't ready on time I bought my friend something else for xmas and will be giving it to them at a later day once I feel it is "finished" I will be repainting it, redoing the suspension, and trying to figure out a way so that the dash doesn't keep on blocking the windshield from not fitting :(. I would post up pics but I don't have my ftp on this computer and I don't wanto to already start clogging up AF's new servers lol. I'll post them tonight or tomorrow.

Coming out real nice, I think I had the same fitment problem, well and others, The chassis dosesn't fit all the way into the body, like the chassis sits to foward(which make it harded to put larger rims) and dosen't go up all the way like it should! I had this problem with the older model of the Mustang made by Revell, since they use the same chassis and some interior parts.

Well guys this project is on hold now! I'm going back to college and I don't want to take the risk of anything breaking while at college or while traveling! I will be back in a month to finish it all! Don't worry I still will be on the boards since I still have an extra body of that mustang to practice my puddy skills.... ummm I mean try out puddy and see what kind of things I can make with it! I haven't seen that many nice mustangs, but then again, I really don't look up mustangs that much lol. If you have any pics of nice kitted Mustangs I would be glad to see them!
P.S. Hono- Don't worry I won't make the Cobra R since I know you have started it!

Well everyone I'm back home and working on the mustang again. I just can't sand the car as smooth as I want it before I respray it again. I sanded it down with 1200 and then used my rubbing compound! I could just be too picky for my first real model, but I'm not sure. I'm thinking I'll sand it again, spray it and if it looks alright, keep it and move on!
