hi guys, i'm new here and this is my first post upon these boards.
i'm having a problem with my 90 eclipse (turbo). she seems to be drinking oil (about a quart every 10 days) but i have no oil/water mixture, NO leaks and the only time i notice any oil burning is every other time i start my car i see white smoke exit my tail pipe. i'm unsure what to change out or upgrade to fix this problem but i love my car and i dont want to blow her up like i did my old GS. If anyone knows how to fix this problem or if you think you might have a site that can better address this please let me know.

How many miles does your car have? You may want chrck your compression because your rings could be bad, thus causing oil to get past your rings and into your combustion chamber.

thanks i'm gonna look into that.. how involved is it changing the rings? also my dad seems to think something called the "valve gliders" might be "dry" or "old" if this is a real part how involved is it to change these out too. oh yea, and the answer i'm NOT looking for is "buy a new car". hehe
thanks again.

It sounds like your dad is talking about valve seals, or guides. Those mount at the top of thevalve that attaches to the rocker arms. They're cheap for the parts, but kind of expensive for a shop to do. While you're at it, you might want to upgrade to newer lifters, valve springs, retainers. Then you'll have a solidly sealed head w/ no oil consumption. Does the car blow out blue smoke under boost?

Definitely get a leak down test done as well as a compression test. That will tell you what's going on w/ the internals that you can't see. Also is there any coolant in your oil?
