17.12.2002 LAMBORGHINI MURCIELARGO ROADSTER TO DEBUT AT DETROIT MOTOR SHOW?
"It is strongly rumoured that Lamborghini will unveil an open topped version version of the 6.2-litre V12 powered Murcielargo at next months Detroit Motor Show. Designed by Belgian Audi stylist Luc Donkerwolke the Murcielargo Roadster is described as "stunning" by project insiders.
Lamborghini's owners Audi have guided the project and the Roadster is believed to incorporate an innovative all-glass electronically sliding roof. The inherent rigidity of the Murcielargo has been retained and little performance will be lost. The Roadster will still offer a top speed of 330km/h and a 0-60km/h dash in 3.8seconds.
The mildly revised engine boasts variable valve timing and a variable geometry air intake manifold. The Roadster will cost around €220,000 and Audi are targeting sales of 300 units a year, the majority headed for the US market."

That Lambo crest on the side behind the drivers head is new.
I think I'd like the roadster. In addidtion to the obvious fun of driving with an open top, I like the fact that you can hear the engine better. I drive with the windows open a lot for this reason.
Well shit I just got my car, now I've got to upgrade again. I hope its not coming out too soon. :bloated:

"INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY LAMBORGHINI
Lamborghini unveils first 2003 surprise Concept Car
for the Detroit Motor Show
Automobili Lamborghini officially opens its Fortieth Anniversary by
presenting a ravishing proposal, dedicated to true Italian supercar fans,
at Detroit Motor Show.
The Lamborghini Concept Car was designed by Luc Donckerwolke,
Head of Lamborghini Design. It continues and exalts the Barchetta
concept, an open car of Italian tradition. This Concept Car has a more
exclusive, aggressive and extreme design compared to the Murciélago,
from which it derives and compared to which is lower by 136 mm.
Its muscular design that interacts with aggressive outlines, makes this
Concept Car a total new proposal that heightens the standards of the
Lamborghini Design language.
An uncompromising car – as in Lamborghini tradition – inspired by the
mythical open racing cars of the Fifties that used to race the Targa Florio
or in the Carrera Panamericana.
An extreme and exclusive car also in its upholstery: the streamlined
headrests integrate the mobile air intakes and the asymmetrical leather
cladding – the right hand side being in a different colour and material
compared to the left hand side – thus enhancing the driver oriented
cockpit so as to make it a real “Pilot Oriented Driving Machine”.
Another feature worth noting is that different structural parts of the
chassis have been re-designed to ensure an adequate torsional stiffness
even though roofless.
The Lamborghini Concept Car displayed in Detroit continues the tradition
of the famous open 12-cylinder models of the “House of the Bull”: from
the 350 GTS to the Miura Roadster, up to the Diablo Roadster."

This thread seems to have cooled down. What actually happened to the roadster? I thought it's been launched? But the real car wouldn't look like the one on the launching right?
I think the roadster has the best rims I've ever seen. So raunchy and awesome... 10/10. If anyone could get it for their hard top Murcielago, I think it would look fabulous, maybe finished with chrome too!
