Your target audience won't be Singaporeans but overseas buyers. Singaporeans generally don't spend much on models, especially during times like these.

Well, seems like noone's interested. But anyway this is my analysis:
-Tamiya is selling one Mini4wd body for SGD$6.90 each retail.
-What we need to make a mould and te equipment is not very expensive, they are: a block of wood, vacuum cleaner attached to something that can do the vacuum forming. No need to use a vacuum forming machine to do it. A homemade one will do it.
-Tamiya brand 0.3mm styrene sheet (therefore legal for Tamiya races) sells at SGD$2.50 each. One sheet can make at least one body. If we sell just a bit less than SGD$6.90, we can calculate how much we can sell at a profit and still be cheaper than Tamiya.
-Mould can be kept a long time. Or a resin duplicate of the mould can be made.
-We may not have the expertise to make very complex bodies like Tamiya, but maybe we can make modified versions of their bodies, more streamlined or whatever. Or maybe just come up with very simple yet aerodynamic designs with is more pactical.

How guys? Any opinions?

Do you have any idea how much is a mold? If you do indiviually, then every piece will be different in size and shape. You got to have a master mold to do the job...
Secondly, What you saw in that Tamiya pla-plate...it is plastic card not Styrene. With these in between Styrene and plastic card, you also can't different it, then what biz you talking about?
Have you try to mold a simple model or some parts before? If you did, then I should said Good luck and hope to see your business grow big.

IMO, this look a little stupid...it's juz the way I think...Sorry if I hurt you, I'm not trying to upset you or making trouble here...:finger:

The master mold can be done by using Tamiya vacuum formed body, pour in resin into it. And voila, there u have the master. Just need some epoxy to make some body modifications and it's done.
Whether it's plasticcard or styrene sheet, what matters is that it is TAMIYA and therefore legal for Tamiya races. If Tamiya makes clear PVC sheets, i would also go for it. It doen't matter what the material is, as long as it is legal and is light.

do you know how to mix with resin? have you try it? do you have vacum machine to suck all the bubble up from your resin? Do you how much is 1 resin molding machine? Correct, mold is easy to make, but how much can do the vacum body in 1 day? Have you consider that you are competing with those big name like Tamiya and Kyosho? Do you have confident on doing it, do you have craftman to help on the master?
I could tell you, have a dream and reality is totally different thing. If you seriously want to do so, go ahead but I shall give a tips...never market in Singapore, because Singaporean children rather go for Tamiya or Kyosho than your brands. In shopping center, you can see there are few brands that look like mini4WD that manufacter from Taiwan and China with chinese word on their packaging, let me ask you, how much did they sell those in Singapore?
If your dream is strong and want it to be reality, I wish you luck...but it won't be easy...:rocket:

hermanchauw, just a few words I got...
If you wanna do it, go ahead.. but think twice. Who are you competiting with in Singapore Market? Tamiya and Kyosho. If you sell the stuffs cheap, what people will think? If you really wanna do, aim overseas.. You can't get fair locally. And I agree what Rtune says.

All the best to you, I am not flaming you here but just to wish you good luck.
