what do u do when......

just wondering what you guys do when you are polishing your final clear coat and you polish it through the clear to the paint all the way to the primer?

1. do u strip it all and start over?
2. touch up paint? and polish that area?
3. forget it and ignore its there?

this usually happens to me at corners or any sharp protrusions like windshield sprays, handles, bumpers...etc...

don't polish it that much, simple solution

When you've clearcoated, touching up with paint isn't going to work very well. You might as well start over.

It depends on the color and where at on the car. Black is the easiest,If it's just a sharp edge a black marker works good to cover the mistake.

As for me, I would sand the area around it lightly, cover other area using masking tape, revealing only the affected part, paint it back using air brush and then remove the masking tape and add another clear coat. This might or might not work but the best solution is to start all over again...

It depends on what area is infected. :bloated:
If it's just one spot, I also use masking tape. I put the tape over panel lines (door etc.) easier to redo the clear coat afterwards. I never start all over again, I HATE THAT :rolleyes: , unless it's everywhere on the car, but even then I will only sand the clear coat back, slightly mist of colour to touch up and back to the clear coat.
