Ok here is the situation, I have a 88 CRX pretty much stock with some minor mods. I also have a complete RHD 89 CRX w/out motor, I was planing on restoring it and finding someway to register it but i have been doing my research and unfortunately its going to be REALLY REALLY hard to register it and costly. Ok now heres my question since thats not going to work out i was thingking of combining both. What i mean is cutting out the firewalls of both crx's and swaping them along with the glass top and so on.... I know this will weaken the frame a great deal but if I die ill die happy. Now would this be illegal since i would be driving on the other side. Im thinking no but im not to sure I would really appreciate some info of what you think or from anyone that would know.
Thx alot

ok what will be costly about reg-in the right hand drive crx. 7 years it will fall off the books and you can re-reg it. It would be so much more of a pain in the ass to do that swap. I dont even think it would be worth the effort of doing that. but thas my thought.. Oh and yes it is legal to have a right hand drive car if it orignally came that way..

oh my goodness...i think i might cry if i re-read that. don't chop up a RHD glass top CRX. CA sucks but there are ways around it. i don't know about the present time but i know the FF squad down there had some RHD civics'. please don't ruin the integrity of that CRX....for real. there are some people who would chop off their arms and legs for glasstop CRX here in the US.

ps. if anyone has an EDM 1.6i here in the US....don't tell me. you might cause me to do something rash and i doubt you want an empty driveway

Ok Ok I get it I wont chop it up, but that leaves me with the registration factor. I was looking into Kit Car Registration but in order to go this route i need receipts but I dont have any since I bought the car from a private owner who got it from someone else. So the real proof for how tha car got here is unknown. However according to my local junkyard it is illegal to import any car from overseas even if its just the shell without the proper paper work i.e. title, bill of sale etc. So some how this car made it over here. Now with kit car registration would allow me to register the car under this title. if you dont kow what kit car registration is you can look it up but it is basically the tittle the give cars that are specialy constructed or kit cars such as Cobras and other replica cars. This is what i planed to do and say i build the car from different parts. for example say i bough the front clip of a RHD CRX and welded them together. In order to do that i need all the receipts to show I have no stolen parts i.e. receipts for the front clip w/out motor, back clip, fenders, lights, bumpers, hood, trunk, doors, glass top, carpet, seats, dashboard, console, steering wheel, pretty much everythign you can think of. I was going to go to my local junkyard and ask them if they could provide me with some receipts i would have sliped them some cash to make it easier. But turns out no one is willing ot do it sine they say the DMV will investigate and they dont want to deal with it. I will try and contact FF to see if they can help me in any way or point me in the right direction. if can help post a reply thx
