Hi all! Just finished this Aoshima Toyota Aristo VIP car to give to my piano teacher tomorrow as a gift. It was a pretty straightforward build, I don't like how the wheels stick out (especially the weird camber thing in the back!) so if I were to build this kit again, I'd give it an aggressive body kit (think Veilside combat), fender flares, and a GT-Wing.
The headlights were painted with Model Masters Chrome Silver, I was impressed with the quality of this paint, which was worlds away from Tamiya X-11.

Nice looking Dan :)
Here's an idea, why dont you sub those 19" with some 18"? Hopefully those wont stick out that much and you get a set of 19" to keep.

Looks nice, you should put some thinner wheels in it though, not smaller diameter, just cut the rims down a mm of something, won't that work? I'm sure he will love it even if he doesn't like that car :D

Good ideas, everyone! I changed the rims to 18" Aoshima Stimulators, I think it looks better now.

Looks fantastic Dan, really nice work!
Did those 19"s actually come with the kit, coz they really spoil the look big time!? Looks alot better now with the 18"s and i think you should take a new set of pics to show us in its new glory;)

Yes Chris, they came with the kit! They're the same ones on P-Man's yellow Lancer, I'll save them for (I think) my Supra.
You're right, I should take one last round of pics before I send it off, to have something to remind her by ;) It's dark already here, so I'll take some more tomorrow morning. :)

The rear still stick out a bit
Hehe... I guess it's a bit too late to fix the suspension, huh? :)

IMO (if you were keeping the kit), i'd leave the 19's on it but just tuck them into the guards....the look would be 10 times better :D
The paint is almost perfect by the look of it....very deep looking.
Nice work:)

That came out nice! I really like the color, both styles of rims look good, if you can tuck the larger ones in that would look fine. I've gotta build mine someday...heck, I've driven the real car (pretty slick machine).

Thanks for the comments everyone!! I really appreciate them. :)
njh - I used XF-15 Flesh to replicate the tan interior, it's a little too orange for a true tan though. The grey was XF-53 Neutral Grey, the real grey in the car for the tan interior is sort of dark brownish/grey. In retrospect I should have used XF-63 to make it look better.
Just some new pics with the new 18" wheelsbefore I send her off, it's all I'll have to remember her by  The rear wheels still sticks out a bit but it's not as apparent.

Hi Dan,
I see you made it on time for your teacher! ;)
Nice to see this one finished and it looks very very cool  Like everyone else said, the painting really does it one this one! The pattern of the first rims were better imo but the size of the second set suits it better. Well done.
Did he liked it?

Yes, it is delivered: He loved it! It reminded him of when he used to build balsa wood planes, where the kit would consist of boards of balsa wood and blueprints, and (I think) you had to cut each piece of wood to size and glue them together, or something. He used to have a 10 feet wingspan glider, but unfortunately it broke.
Now that that's finished, off to the next project, a Skyline. :)
