I have a warrantied 99 g20t. I want to upgrade the engine but of course there is the warranty in the way of doing this. All I have done under the hood so far is drop in a K&N replacement filter. I am thinking of putting a performance chip to help with HP. I heard that if you bring the car in they can't even tell unless they dyno it or compu-test it. My questions are:
1.) I heard once you install the chip you must by law put a small plate/sticker that identifies the car as a modified car.
2.) What chip (if there are any) is good for a 99 g.
3.) What other engine mods will go visually unoticed.
I have so many quiestions because I' attending an import show this wekend and wanna pick something up.
Thanks

I think JWT has one http://www.jimwolftechnology.com
Although, maybe not, because all of the newer Infinitis use and Infiniti specific computer. I know that Nissan dealers can't pull computer codes on P11 G20s because they use a different card.

What I know is that when I pulled check engine codes from my car I used a 300ZX(Z32) code sheet....Same thing...Nissan engines will always be Nissan...I looked at a 2000 200SX SE-R and its the same engine as mine...identical all the way up to the new sensors for OBD-II...anyways I can take my Infiniti to a Nissan dealer and I bet they can fix anything the same way as a Sentra...
Last week I called JWT...Talked to a technical dude and he says he can only reprogram pre '97 SR20DE OBD-I motors and that they haven't figured out the newer SR20DE OBD-II ECUs...I think its bullshit because my car was tested with their experimental chip but did crap worth of horsepower on my car...anyways I don't know what JWT can really do but I bet they can do it but they just want to spend the R&D...
As Luke mentioned try calling JUN. They are supposedly able to reprogram but I do know that they are hella pricey...Peace

Note, not all Pre 97 G20s have OBD-I 1993.5 and up I believe are OBD-II. I know my car is OBD-II and it is a 1994, if I recall correctly the switch was made for 1993.5.
