My time at AF

Well I've been here for a little bit over 1 year, 1 year and 10 days to be exact. I was going to make a thread when I reached 1 year but I forgot when that time arrived. In the past year I've made quite a few friends that I truely consider to be my friends. Yes, some may say it's just the internet, but it's more than that. And I know snowie is probably some 60 year old asian man wearing pink slippers pretending to be a teenager but that's cool cause he's my friend. :D I've made a lot of friends, too many to name and I'd feel bad if I left some out, so you all know who you are. And then there's the people that I don't get along with *cough* *m0ppie* *cough* haha, just playin'. As we all know I've been on AF a lot, most of my days for the past year, probably way more than I should have been but it's been nice. So before I start rambling on too much I'd just like to say that this place is great and I haven't found a place I like more on the web, even IF. :D So thanx for the great site, keep it up Igor, you're the man. :wave: to everyone

Jimmy's opinion- I joined AF 1 year 2 months and 9 days ago- I swore to myself that I'd never visit COT- as I was here to talk cars- that turned out great :rolleyes: I had 11 cars at the time of joining- but found I'd be better off if I got rid of some- And I was :D The first person I ever conversed with was Heep, then Chris (Not Kris- CHRIS) then I think it was Warren. Although IMHO COT has gone downhill since I joined- I still decide to remain loyal to it. Back in April I left AF to get my move from New Zealand to Italy sorted and then get my life in Italy sorted- I then suggeted my brother Jared (Moss1O6GTi) joined- which he did and the ish doubled my whole years postcount in 6 months (little whore:finger: ) I returned in November and have been more active than ever- another awesome thing is a lot of members from back in the day remain on AF :cool: I know for a fact I will remain on AF a looooong time

I have made some cool friends and talked to some interesting people- to name a few- PMan, Spec2, Kicker (Though he can be a barstard at times :D), Heep, sn0wie, taz, replicant, judge, Mr T, Chris, boingo, Tangie, DOC, JD, jay and Kris- and they are just members off the top of my head

I've only been here a little over 3 months but its been great. Made some good friends....kicker.....just to name one. I joined Oct. 23, 2001, and as you can see by my postcount, Kicker is a MUCH bigger whore than I.

I have made countless invaluable friends, and I love the sense of community I experience here. No matter what the topic, it seems there is always someone to present a 3rd, 4th, or 5th side to the argument.
I have met a lot of people whom I'd consider friends here, including Mr. T, Spec2, ci5ic, Jimmy (whom I didn't really know until about 2 weeks ago), Yogs, Tangie, PMan, Moppie (always good for an argument), etc. (Many more aren't coming to mind this moment.)

One of my favorite things about AF is that in one thread, 2 people can be having a very heated argument, while in another (simultaneously) they will be the best of friends.

Thanks for a great year and 2 months, people, and many more to come!!

Hello,my name is Taranaki and I am an AFaholic.........

Just squinting at my stats,I have been here a year and 6 days..and what a year it has been!I stumbled into AF while looking for some Hillman Aerominx information,[didn't find it here,but never mind!]and I was hooked from day one.We've covered some pretty wide fields in OT[don't look for me in the car forums,I hardly ever go there]and I've talked to loads of really nice people.
When I first started posting at AF,Taranaki was a persona,a 'pretend' me,a protective shell that I spent many hours hiding in.I find it amazing that not only has AF drawn me out of that shell,but it has also introduced me to some really neat friends.We've covered some hilarious stuff,like Kiwi time, the yaya,perky nanas,sheep,picture threads,Star Wars threads......the list is huge.We've seen AF grow larger and larger,blown the lid off it's server more than once,met some pretty tragic little trolls,seens some good oldschool faces fade away,and some great newbies pop up in their place.

For me ,OT is the heart of AF.It's where anybody can drop in,regardless of their preference in cars,and there's usually someone worth talking to.
I've had a really intense year away from the boards,and AF has often been the best place to turn to when it was time to let off steam.
I won't clog up the thread with a huge list of the really neat people that I have met here this year,there are just too many of you,but I'd like to say a special thanks to Andy,Raf,Carey and Warren.It's really neat to know you ,thanks for everything.

While we're getting all mushy and sentimental,I'd like to wish you all every happiness for Christmas,and may all your wishes for the New Year come true.I look forward to keeping in touch with you all for a while yet.

But since the stars aligned some how i manage to post with out getting booted!!! j\k but on another note everyone here has always been suportive to every1, new or old... thats the one thing i luved about AF. the ppl here are wonderfull. In 2 days Dec. 22 it would be exactly 1 year for me here at AF. WOW so much has happond in the world, in my life, even on AF. Everyone cryed, everyone laughed, but we all had a good time.

I somewhat regreat not posting as much on AF for i miss the quarkyness of most you whores. Do to current events (like getting hit on the freeway and my car getting totaled :cry: )its been hard to get back on, and the buziness of AF has grown tremendous not that its a bad thing, almost unbearable here at work with my connection heh. I remember back in the day when we use to wonder how much bigger AF was gona get!! But i still visit to see whats up. WOW in 2 days its gona be a year. im happy to know most of the guys that started around the same time i did are still here. you guys are a great bunch and i hope everyone has a Happy and safe holiday!!! :ylsuper

Well i'm coming up to almost two years patrolling the sites of AF.
I came here to talk about primeras/G20's and got hooked every since.
I've meet some really wonderful people here....
Some of the highlights... would be the Hamilton AF Kiwi meet we had at the start of this year....was good to put faces to names.....finally getting to know DVS and talking to the man(scary :finger: )....Mr T turning up on my door step on a Saturday night :) ....Getting on the beers with Moppie(you are are strange weeee man in a slow Honda :finger: :finger: ...j/k)....and finally all the others i have meet. There are too many to name, but you know who you all are.
I wont talk about Jays little thread about the Million PMan march !!! lol
Find it hard to hang around in OT much these days as the modelling forum seems to take up 90% of my time here.....but i keep an eye on you all.

Well I signed up in Nov 2001 when the SDU forums went down big time and IGOR was kind enough to house us here on AF, I've been here ever since.

During my time here I have been sucked into the modelling section big time by Pmans insane abilty to produce flawless models, seen good people come and go, morons get banned and return and be banned and return etc etc.

Have been fortunate enough to meet alot of the AF kiwi crew (Mr T, Moppie, Pman - the kiwis I didn't know before AF), it's good to be able to put an face and real name to the nicks. Have had good conversations with people over the other side of the world that I will probably never be fortunate enough to meet. Been helped through rough times by numerous AF members (you know who you are) THANKS.

Special thanks for a good year go to Mr T, Pman, Tangie, Spec2 & Moondog, and all you other "regulars" out there.

I've only been here for about 6 months but in the time I've been here, I feel like I've made a few friends in the Car Modelling forum such as flyonthewall, Primera Man and a buncha others.:cool: I've also been lucky to be enlightened by the philosophy of Taranaki. I spend way more time here than I should (not!) but I am happy to call AF my cyber-home! I now know cool people all over the world and am a part of the best group of car modellers in the world!! This place is just plain :coolguy: :coolguy: :coolguy: :coolguy:

Myself like Tazdev, Darkness, and most of the rest of the SDU forum members, came here when the Skylines Downunder Forums died. AF wound up better than our own forums in many ways though home is hard to give up. Knowing some of you such as Darkness, Tazdev, Moondog, Spec2 girl, Panamonium and a few others personally helped a lot.

I've met some of you personally " Pman, Taranaki, and Mopie" at the Hamilton Car Show which was really great. Yes mopie even meeting you one of AF's biggest yet smallest PITA's { Pain In The Ass } was great.

I did take some time off, like 8 months when I lost the plot and went stupid, but hold no ill feelings as I was a victim of my own personal ignorance.

I've also made some great on line friends in Tangie, Jay@AF, JD, Kris just to mention a few.

I've started to come back though much more humbled and down to earth.

It's about my one year mark too. Before AF I flirted with other sorums, before becoming an active member of PH (Pure Honda) about 18 months ago. When that died, the natural progression was AF. I have met some great people as well, and thouroughly enjoy my online banter with them. The endless streams of PMs with different people throughout the year (Taranaki, Tangie, Spunkimunky, Setanta, Slave, Moppie when I first joined to name a few!). Since then it has progresses to the point where I have hosted Sydney AFers at my house for a barbecue and been on numerous AF organised cruises. I love the open sense of comunity that OT embodies - people who know enough about each other to share part of themselves, yet wary/accepting of fraudulent/genuine newcomers (cue-Replicant_008 - another frequent PM). So inconclusion, thanks for making my stay here enjoyable and I look forward to the future of AF and AF OT...

In all my time at AF, I've never so much as browsed this forum... My one venture out of the make specific and racing forums was into the wheel and tire forum... That scared me right back into my little hole :hehehe:

I've only been here about a year, and only started to whore it up in the last few months... Hey kicker, it's a shame you weren't posting in any of the forums I frequent, I can't see how you could have lost in my "AF's Top Post Whore" poll... I think the polls closed with Kris in the lead ;)
