Had this run yesterday,
Got off 210 E and turned left at Walnut. I noticed a pretty heavily moded Nova also turning left. I slowed down hoping both of us would catch the next light. I stayed at his side but he was stuck behind an old Datsun so I thought we wouldn't be able to go. I guess the guy in the Datsun wanted to see this run too 'cause he switched to the left turning lane as we neared the red light. We stopped at the light and checked out each other's rides. He had a '72 (I think) with centerlines, fattys outback, traction bars and a 12 bolt. I could hear aggressive cam lope so I thought I was about to get my *** handed to me. I looked over and saw him arguing with his girl. He revved and I nodded (auto). I turned off the radio, shifted to out of Overdrive to D, and power braked to 900RPM.
The light turned green and we went. I spun out and felt the rear start to break left. The tires hooked about 1/2 sec later and I straightened her out. Got a pretty good push thru the remainder of 1st. 2nd kicked in and I got a squeek out of the tires (Hadn't done that before:eek: ). I kept on the throttle all the way thru 2nd. Came up on third and looked to my left, he wasn't there. I looked in the rear view and shut her down, 2 1/2 - 3 cars. I was shocked. He must have spun out pretty badly cause he looked pissed at the next light. He also kept at my side wanting to go again but traffic wouldn't allow anymore fun. This goes down as my first official kill (by official I mean properly staged, and both racers aware they are racing). I can't wait to get her to the track next year.:D

You just wait... Just Wait...:)
Good kill, Power is nothing if you cant put it to the Ground. Maybe that guy should rethink his launches.

Nice kill. Why didn't you shift her manually, Dano? Wouldn't you have been faster?

fatninja,
4L60E's have enough reliability issues without any of my help. I've heard shifting these transmissions manually is guaranteed to break them by 50k mi. Besides I'm planning to put in a 3200-3500 stall, cooler, and shift kit in the summer, there is no way I'd be able to outshift that setup:D.
Red,
What's the status of the Nova? Did you do the engine swap yet?

No swap yet... I was about to buy the Transmission... but got the Blue 72 instead... set me back a bit... then... Broke my shoulder in a motorcycle accident... which has resulted in almost 2 months no work. No work equals no car parts.
Minor setbacks :D
Workin on landing a new J-O-B at TRD. If i do, Nova will come together in no time... seemingly hehe. As always I'll keep ya informed.
