What to do to engine before swapping in

I've heard the basic work you want to do to an engine before swapping it in is replacing the fluids, water pump, and timing belt. Is there anything else I should be doing to swap a JDM B18C into a 94 Integra GSR. Are aftermarket motor mounts worth it? New thermostat?

I used the hasport mounts for my swap which i would recommend. One thing i would tell you to do before putting in the motor is check the clutch/flywheel condition. Those motors that are used are not guaranteed to have all new parts. I had to drop my tranny 3 months later to replace clutch. Everyone will tell you if you have the oppurtunity while the engine is out, then at least check it out. Also consider upgrading the axles.

I am planing to do a swap (h22) on my accord 97. I am about to by a new mugen thermostat and fan switch but not sure weather to get them for h22 or accord engine.
Please help...

Start your own thread, and logic would dictate that if you are swapping in a H22, you would no longer need any engine parts for the Accord.

im with maxspeed..check out your engine and minor internal parts well.. Go ahead and throw a quality mount kit in such as teh hasport..its always a good idea. And as far as the fluids..do not put any oil or other fluid in until your engine is fully bolted and hooked up..you dont want your fluids splashing around your internals and running all over the place while trying to install ! trust me it will be alot easier to fill her juices up after install

if your really mainly that worried about a thermostat then just go to autozone and buy a new one for 12 bucks..but the one in there in fine im sure

Well you ingrate, you got your damn answer, and you can get answers specifically for your questions when you make a thread of your own. Not to mention, why would you think you needed a thermostat for a F series, when you are swapping it for an H? It's just simple logic.

It is not that I am ingrate. but swaping h22 into acrrord you use some parts from F series to swap the engine. I just want to make sure that I buy all the right parts before doing the swap. I am not a mechanic and sometime I got confused from doing all the research. Now that you mention "why would you think you needed a thermostat for a F series, when you are swapping it for an H? It's just simple logic" It all makes sense to me now.

Being a newbie get frustrated sometime. You start a new trade and hope to get some answer then some guy post "do more research". You do more research and find nothing. What do you do? Post your question on other people thread and hope sompeople will answer your question.

its cool man, hey i know for newbies around the whole automotive mechanical world it is hard to get answers or steps that arnt confusing being that you dont know alot of terminology and so forth...If i am not mistaken HAYNES is releasing manuals now on engine swaps for popular import applications. It should be a step step for dummies sort of speak manual on entire swaps..check out thier website or look around places like pep boys and so forth...good luck buddy

why exactly does he need new engine mounts? it's almost the same engine he's swapping in... so wouldn't the stock mounts work fine?

Need and would want to are not the same. The HAsport mounts are solid and a good addition for helping stabilize a motor in a bay under harsh driving.

Exactley, and once again you will always get what you pay for. It is very helpful to have solid mounts once you get into modifying the motor.

especialy when youve already got the engine out of the bay
