I recently aquired a 1989 Si hatch. The day i got it had no problems starting, the second day i had it at about noon, the starter just stoped working, it makes no sounds, or puts no drain on the battery, the battery, alternator etc. are all in good working condition...I've checked all the fuses under the dash and the one's under the hood....also the car once had an alarm on it but they just took the brain box out...any help would be awesome, getting tired of push starting my car :monkeypis

well, you could test the starter by turning your key to the "on" position, then locating the power wire to the starter, take off the wire (it plugs on like the back of a speaker)

run a wire from that power terminal on the starter and touch it to the positive post on the battery,if the starter turns the car over, then it is good, if the starter doesnt do anything then it is bad

tap the starter with something heavy, dont bash it or anything just some good sturdy taps, works best if someone is in the car with the key turned. large bolts tend to work real well for this, or a hammer if you can get to it

You mean when you trun the key the car doesn't even try to start like the clutch is pushed in?

same crap happened to my car, at first it was the little plastic peice that ingages the clutch so it will start, well my car worked for two weeks and then it wouldn't start so i replaced the starter and ran i positive wire to the strater and hooked up a push button starter switch. it has worked fine since.
