1st of all i was just wondering if i could start a little group or club for kids (0-16) who are very interested in modeling, but don't have the experience of Primera, Guiddy, or FOTW... My idea for the club would be....

-A "Team" Website.
-Your progress tips and tricks (on site)
-"Car Shows"/Contests
- Suggestions, reviews and comments on kits
-Beginner help
-Step by step working- Painting, Assembly, etc.

And other stuff that i think of.......

IF anyone is interested in something like this then leave a post....

Jay/Pman: If something like this isn't allowed, then ill delete it if u want....

I hate to be the pessimist, but that sounds like it will lead the 'younger generation' away from the AF core group.
Are you trying to start your own forum?

NOOOOO... NO forums... just help for kids who are just starting, or do't have as much experience!!!

Well wouldn't it make more sense for them to be here then on AF, since there are so many experienced modellers here that can share ideas and tips with them and tell them what they are doing wrong when there is a problem.
I think between the FAQ and the forum itself, there is plenty to offer the newer modellers.
If you generate a site of only new modellers, who are they going to learn from?

im surprised ure not wanting people to go back on BMC freakray

but on integra14's idea: i think it sounds cool
if he could provide a link to AF and most people on there would more than likely be from here any way

the club would only be for younger kids, not adults. I'm not trying to take any respect away from af cause i WORSHIP this place!!!! But we would all learn from our experiences and mess ups.

ps.... thanks for dissing me out:devil:

The way I see it AF is a sort of model club.Think about it ...modelers from around the world coming to one spot to share tips, help each other out, show off their cars(trucks,bikes,etc....),jokingly harrass each other, and just to have fun.:)

Integra14,
I was not trying to diss you at all, if you feel that way I am sorry.
All I did was ask why not encourage the people to share on the AF modelling forum.

Integra14,

I think I understand what you are trying to achieve with your idea, AF is a great place for tips and inspiration, but it is a little different to learning.

I found a great site about 6 months ago, and it changed my modelling!

www.msmodels.co.uk

This site is run by Paul, I had the chance to meet him last month.

The way this changed my modelling is in my attitude to my mistakes, every time I make a mistake I thought it was the end of the world, and would put the kit away and start something new. Paul has taught me, through his own mistakes (like melting his McLaren body TWICE) that you can fix almost anything, and that it is all part of learning.

I think that anyone who is new to modelling can learn a lot from this site, that you just can't find here on AF.

That being said, AF is a great site with lots of members who have a great collective knowledge, there are no shortage of "Master model makers" on this forum.
I am not trying to turn people off this excellent forum, rather enrich there modelling experience through sharing another great site.

The only thing about AF is that sometimes we get off topic and tend to post things that I know I wouldn't want my kids reading, if I had kids that is. Heck I wouldn't even want my kids seeing some of the icons and avatars we have. (talking about the under age 10 range here).

I think the idea is a good one. Maybe you could take things from AF posts and create a general site of tips and techniques. The FAQ is already a great start on that. Then you could just invite the younger modelers there and when they get a bit older they can come here.

yes exactly.. .maybe like an age group for the JCA would be 0-12 or someting.. or totally beginner modellers, cause i could help beginners, and if i ran into problems, id tell the kids to come here!!

I'd join. Just a place to show my models permanently, instead of a temorary thread on AF.

1-12? ><
I'm turning 13, and I'm still running into things that have never happened before.

That's good, since you have to sign an agreement verifying that you are at least 13 years of age to join AF.

The idea is there, its just that I don't really see the point of in-experianced modelers giving tips to newbies. It is better that the pro's give the tips.

The idea would be good, if there wasn't already a good forum like AF here already.

i agree somewhat but one thing is, that when i really need the help AF is busy, Always when i really need to get in here

but after Integra made this thread im gonna try to make my web site in to what he is talking about, except for the age group and no fucking profanity
