Maxima's

Is it just me or does everybody else also feel like a complete badass driving their Max. All my car has as far as modifications is clear corners and a broadway mirror, but that doesnt stop the great feeling of getting into my stock Maxima. I can't imagine how you Maxima owners with a completely modified cars feel like rolling down the street.





P.S. I just got my car but soon enough I will have my car turning heads.:ylsuper

Do the clearance light mod, its retardedly easy. :toothless

Also, Sylvania Silverstars make your headlights look significantly whiter without pulling extra juice. :shocked:

Hell yeah, I feel like a bad @$$, I just love it when they see the sleeper sedan, grocery hauler, family car and they figure that they are gonna pull ahead of me or smoke me from a stoplight.

Sometimes for the wildlife fund I let them smoke me from one light to the next but when the next light I come to, I put the hammer down and s-it all over they @$$, just to show them that I wasn't even trying to race you, but if I was>here's what will happen 2 your dumb @$$.

Shit fellas. I feel like a BAD ASS dood behind my maxima steering wheel. Even when I drive my moms 89 maxima i still feel like a bad ass, altho my moms car doesnt have any mods altho engine was replaced. Im getting off the topic. Anyways... I remember about 2 weeks ago, I pull up to a traffic light and see some idiot in riced out honduh slovic. I look over, and see his greedy smile, and hear that he revs on me with his stock shit. I see that traffic light turns yellow for cross traffic. Then I start reving my engine to about 5500 rpm, to let that dummy hear my intake at the same time I look at him, and see his face turn from happy to questioned one. Once traffic light turned green he tried to do something but he was in my rear view mirror for a longest time of his life. I AM A BAD ASS:devil:

Once again somebody got DISsed, man just tell me that you are not droppin your clutch at 5500 or torque braking your auto to 5500, if so in the automagic>you'll blow it out in a couple of months of doing that.
If it is a clutch, the worse you'll have is excessive wheelspin.
I think you know better, anyway sweet kill, I love burning riced out slowvics, especially the BEEtec models with the big fart can exhaust.

ive heard some ppl say that the y pipe is loud. is it pretty loud or not?

I don't know about the Y-pipe, but I just put on the upper part of a PR CAI last night and holy crap! That bish is really loud at WOT! At docile driving RPMs, you can barely hear it though.

I'm getting ready to start playing sugardaddy to my car, every month or so I'm gonna start buying something for it. This month I bought an FSTB for $12.00.

Next month I'll probably be in the Po-man's (noticed I spelled it Po-cause I'm too broke to afford the other o & r) Recovery House cause of Christmas spending. I'll probably send my wallet on vacation looking for money to put in it and in February I'll buy something nice like a y-pipe.

Question is which Y-pipe to get? Cattman, STEALIN or Budget? Once again somebody HBO<if you don't know what that means look in the other threads.

I'd go with Budget. That's what I'm going to get, you can't beat the price, and people at the Org say they don't produce the Beez in a can sound anymore.

How's the FSTB working out for you? I'm sure you can notice the difference, but do you think there would be a difference between that FSTB or a higher priced one? Or do you think they are all the same?

I haven't did the install yet, so I can't tell you of the ride difference. I will do the install when I get back from Cali after New Year's.
I really don't know of differences between the FSTB I have and a more expensive one. This one is supposed to be a good brand, I still believe I got a good deal, how much you pay isn't always indicative of how well something is, some things are just overpriced or you're only paying for name recognition.

Thanks for asking though, I will let you know on the ride quality after the FSTB install.

I appreciate that info on the y-pipe, I guess I'll go with the Budget, not for price but because I don't like that stupid BEES in the can sound, I always associate that noise with being Riced out.

i def. feel like a bad ass in my maxima. knowing that you can smoke a lot of people and still look classy doing it... its a great feeling.

usually when you have a speedy car, its all riced out with the 6 color lights and 1/2" ground clearance, trunk sounding like its gonna fall off from the pyle (o'shit) subs in the trunk.

maxima's have there shit together. well put together so the car doesnt rattle much when the bass goes, and an engine powerful enough to make lowering the car un-necessary.

and even if we decided to make the mods, they just look better on a maxima

isnt great knowing that after all those mods they make, a maxima can still kick that fuckin' integra's ass.

B2k - Make sure you check out and search the forums at Maxima.org for Budget testamonials. That is where I'm getting my information. There is some mixed opinion on the Budget pipe, but that may be because some people got their pipe a lot longer ago than others and there could have been design changes that have eliminated the Beez.

bk2, regarding my post (hondike kill:devil: ) I got auto tranny, and I reved my baby on that phewl but didnt drop it in "D" at that RPM. I just waited till itll drop to idle, and then switched to "D". AND THEN :flipa: 0WNij:monkeypis hondikes

Glad to hear that you'll still be riding and haven't tore up your tranny, way to burn those hondikes though.

Guys, maxs are pretty sweet cars but don't get over your head wit'em. Yes I do feel good beating on ol civics and junk like that but they don't even count for me. The day I put on my FrankenCar intake I took it for a spin and came across a 2gen Eclipse at a red light. He gave me the look and so we raced to like 60mph. I hit 60, he might have been around 80 when I slowed down. He had like 10 cars on me. Then I caught up next to him and he and his friend were just pointing and laughing at me like WTF is he thinking.

Anyways, I still love my max but I plan to get a dsm someday.

yeah he probably did have more than me but he doesn't even need anything to beat me. Turbo eclipses run 15.1 stock but with a good driver, like my brother who ran 14.7 stock, anything is possible. He did have exhaust tho and probably some kind of intake mod. That puts him in the low 14s if he had a full exhaust with the downpipe. But who knows, he might've had an FP Red turbo with all the good fuel management systems.

I feel like a bad-A in my car until I pull up next to an old Granny in a Maxima exactly like mine.:D Stupid old person, get a Cadillac. At least she doesn't have mods.:rolleyes:

Guys we all are big Bad Asses (in a good way of course) I only own my Max for 45 days now and it turns heads everywhere I go and among friends. It is black off course with leather interior. My plan mods are HID with harness upgrade, clear corners, intake, exhust, shifter and spoiler. I have an automatic so my take off time from dead stop is sluggest. What do you guys think? Should I upgrade to manual tranny? My last car was a stick and loved it, but the max has a sweet ass to look at, smooth ride. Gotta love a max.

if ur gonna get a manual tranny, dont do an upgrade with ur auto. jus go and look for another max with a manual tranny. if ya do it and like thats good for u, but easier and prob cheaper to jus get a max with manual tranny already in it

Thats true, I never really seen why people would switch tranny's, it sounds expensive, and think, it would have been cheaper to buy a 5 speed in the first place, unless you got a hand me down Max:D

Conversion of tranny is not expensive at all. there is a kid whos on this forum, (dont remember his nick) but he did the conversion, ordered parts from Canada. All parts came out to 1800 bucks and he had all the labor on his ass and his hands. He said it took him around 36-48 hours to do EVERYTHING.

I got the max at such a great deal it was hard to past up. I have been looking for a black 96 max 5 speed for at least 6 months but never found one with in my budget. So I gave up and got this max. Car and driver magazine said the 96 max se was the most nimble of the max and that is what I got. Even with the $1800 for the conversion my max would still cost me less that the prices I was seeing from dealers, ebay and news paper.

1) mannual tranny
2) clutch
3) short shifter and knob?
4) different flywheel?
5) what electronics?

Just wanted to inform you of the manual vs automagic conversion issue, my current question is, why?

Why bother to change from auto to manual anyway, you are not going to gain that much if any, this comment is based on research on maxima.org where dynos were done on both cars of the same model and there was very little gain in wheel hp (somewhere around 1-2 difference) in transmissions.
Contrary to what people think or say these dynos disprove the myth that manuals are so much faster than autos.
Like P (Paonessa) said, you may as well buy a Max with the 5spd already installed, (it's cheaper) and you can still add the same mods and be just as fast with the cash you'd have left over.

I know that I'll probably get flammed for the 5spd vs auto comments because of what those of you with 5spd have been lead to believe, but go ahead and flame on, you may also want to go look at the thread on the org (I want my 255hp) and check the posted dyno slips of both the 5spd and auto Max's of the same year before you flame, there you'll see all the so called difference in speed the 5spd is supposed to net you over the automagic.

hmmmm food for thought. During the time i made the previous post i did some research on the net and looked at the info on maximax.org, you are right it would be expensive to put in a new clutch peddal, clutch, cables etc. I am now rethinking the whole idea. I never really though there was a gain in HP between man and auto but you must conceede that shift time decreases with the manual shift. A manual shift gives the driver more control of the cars accelleration and stopping. A manual shift is also better in emergancy stopping situations, especially in rain or snow conditions. And it's more fun to drive. Anywho......guess I need to look for a 96 se manual in black with leather interior. What are my chances finding one of those.......a gazillion to one. :cry:

Actually, that's one of the more common Maxima SE 5 speeds, black with leather. I have seen more of those than ant other 5 speed.
