The whole company is going out for lunch today and we all got a Christmas cake. I had to wrap the whole lot up. That's right 140 of them!!!! I'm now quite good at wrapping presents!! :D

We have a Christmas part (doing it after the first of the year so it doesn't conflict with all the other parties going on :D ) and we got $$ to the tune of a few K as well. Its a good holiday!

Well let's see... Last year we all got an insulated coffee cup thingy with the Waitemata Health logo on the side. The year before, I'm told that some sunscreen/zinc and presumably something else was the present - I didn't get any. Years and years back we got a christmas cake, but there have been about 3 or 4 years in the middle I got nuttin'.
I s'pose it is a very large employer, and not a profit-making company, so there isn't a lot to spend on christmas pressies for employees.

The paper industry is going down the shitter here, so the mill is barely making enough to stay open, so no bonus or anything for me this yr. Since I am on a contract basis, I usuially dont get much of a bonus anyways.

So far, no presents, I'm sure they'll give us something useless though... Soap on a rope maybe.
But, I do get 2 weeks off of work (paid), and there's always some kind of christmas party/dinner.

This years' haul........A few beers at the local rugby clubrooms,a meal voucher for the staff canteen,a travel rug,and a frisbee.
All in all, a fair try,but doesn't seem to have been organised with any thought.

There is, in all fairness, a Christmas party every year. Mine is on Thursday after work.
About bonuses, don't think I am getting one. I received one my first year in the company, when I had only been employed about two months. There was none my second year, and I was one of the only people to get one last year (perhaps the only one - though it was even smaller than the one I received my first year), for all the extra effort I put into a particularly challenging project that is so hard to finish on time. This year I was able to take the project start to finish, and was almost 100% on-time - a distinct improvement over the way the project had been handled historically in the eyes of the VPs. I put in a hell of an effort, and frankly I am going to be one pissed off camper if I don't get a bonus!

NO. the company I work for thinks it is better to have the money on the books than have happy employees.
There is no christmas lunch or dinner, no christmas party at all, and no christmas bonus either.....
So next time you see that Overhead Door logo as you walk into a building, think of the people that worked to put it there, because we don't get shit from our employer.
And I don't work for some distributor either, I work for the corporate head office, so that really does tell you the kind of company it is!

Well, lets see then,
my team got to go out for dinner and pay for yourself - but hey, the wine was free!
Theresa Gattung sent us all a Team NZ cap with a postcard wishing us all happy holidays.
Atleast I got something this year, last year it was strawberries dipped in chocolate and a glass of bubbly!!

Tomorrow night we're having an Xmas party. Right in the middle of my shift.
Bonus?? I don't know. Last year I got $50, that was back before they "let go" my good manager. :(

My Christmas bonus was the lack of work.
I've been layed off for the next month. So I'm out looking for another job. (what places are good for an almost 18 year old to work at?). I might just not turn up too my old job, to smite the boss. As I have no contract.

Nice, considering I work in a gas station for the time being.

AMEN TO FREAKRAY. We never get shit either, we just get reminded that we are lucky to have a job, and yet there are certain people here that are first inline to donate for the boss's gift. Mayby they get something but I have been here for three years. Nothing, no 401k contribution, no cash, no party, no dinner, no ham, and the benifits suck to. I guess we could consider that our xmas bonus this year is the fact that our health insurance raised by 33%. For my fam that translated to an extra 250. a month that starts jan 1 03.

From various employers in the past:
A very nice swiss army knife.
Cash :D
Dinner at one of Aucklands most expensive resturants. (there were no prices on the menus  )
The guy I drive the truck for has twice left a large wad of extra cash and bottle of Burbon or Vodka in the truck.
I sort of expect something similar this year. :D

Update, just got back from the x-mas party and they give everybody an envelope that has a coupon for free services (no not that kind) at a local establishment. Some people got free facials, $50 at Lowe's, DVD player, etc. I got $150 to a local car audio shop. :D :D :p ;) :flash: :sun: :licker: And it just so happens I desperately need tint for my car!! Unfortunately, so does my boyfriend, so he is desperately sucking up to me right now. Hopefully the $150 will cover at least one car and we'll get both done at once.

Just found out we've got a "gift" giveaway on friday. No idea what the gifts are likely to be, but they say some of them are very nice... I've seen them give out DVD players and the like in the past...
Last year, they gave us a very nice leather back-pack, and inside was a windbreaker, T-shirt, Hat, Swiss Army knife/Mini Maglite combo, lighted bouncy-balls, and some bean-bag juggling balls all with the company logo on them.... Not everyone will get a prez. this year, but we'll see.
Also just found out that a buddy of mine who started working here a week after I did got laid off today (along with several others), so he'll get a VERY nice severence package... I'm expecting to have my turn in the bread-line in a few months. CHA CHING!
