has anyone upgrade their suburban (97-99) to a rear disc set-up? will a late model rear end fit?

I don't think so because the pre new body styles uses leaf springs and the new body styles with rr disc use coil springs, this would be your biggest hurdle. I think correct me if I'm wrong. Check to see if there is an aftermarket upgrade to replace the drums using the old style axle tubes on your sub.

I have seen several kits that will do the job, with Stillen I believe being one of them. One other kit has the parts from a caddy eldorado, and both require the opening up of the differential in order to remove the axle shafts to install the backing plates. It seems rather straight forward from there.....

the problem is the upgrade kits are $1200 + and I can pick up a complete assy from a 2000+ unit for about $700. Couldn't you just weld some pring pads on the new style axles or better yet converst from leaf to coil on the 92-99?
