Ho to shade a BLACK exhaust

Hi all,


Just a quick question on what different techniques you all use for shading on a black exhaust system?

This is for my Renault RE-20 for the exhaust from the cylinder head to the power turbines.

black shoe polish rubbed into semi-gloss black paint... cuz the stuff's oily, it'll make nice, colourful "heat" stains

does anyone else have any other ideas?????

I want to paint this tonight,and get as many different suggestions as possible first .....:flash:

I'd spray paint everything black, then drybrush with aluminium were needed and on top of that drybrush clear blue, orange, red, yellow to do the heating effect.

You'd have to experiment a bit though, I guess.
