anyone know of a site that has a video or sound file of a NO muffler camaro or firebird? i'm gonna trade my slow ass honda on a camaro or firebird as soon as i can afford it and i was wondering if just taking off the muffler would be a similar performance gain and sound as a really loud aftermarket one. just curious.

Loud!! As in too loud, like everybody looking at you because your car sounds like a NASCAR... Remember that it's illegal tho.

Get an SLP Loudmouth. What I have, get at least a compliment a day on the sound. Had it a year now, not ONE noise violation or warning by a cop. Only thing I've had police say to me about the sound is "What the hell is in that thing!? Sounds GREAT!" It's a resonator exhaust system, you can buy it from SLPs site:)

are you trying to make your car loud and obnoxious? Because if you are, that shows how mature you really are. Keep in mind, thats not a compliment.
Go for performance gains. Dont just replace your shit to make it louder:rolleyes:

It would be a little too loud. You could at least go with glasspacks, which are also illegal.
This SLP Loudmouth exhaust, can I put that on my 88 Trans Am?

what does being mature have to do with anything? how is it obnoxious? would you want a quiet muscle car? and im sure any domestic muffler on the market increases your performance as well as the sound, what did your post help him with? im sure if he wanted to hear from an asshole he would fart  :flipa:

To be honest with you I don't know. Don't know much about the routing/size of the 88 exhaust system. You CAN however do a bit of custom work and definately make it work. Have custom(or use what you have) 3" piping run from the y-pipe to just over the axle, then just take the rear section of the Loudmouth and have it welded onto the end of your 3" piping.
*VABOOM* Instant Loudmouth! And just WATCH the heads turn and the compliments roll in. I'll dig up this site I have with sound clips of it...Gimme a bit...

well, taking out your complete exhaust system is pretty loud, and will get you a hell of a lot of extra power since there is no pressure, but it's also illegal, so... it's your choice. I know someone who did it to a 300zx and just strapped tips to the end of his underbody, it's loud as hell, fast as hell, looks like he has nice as duellies, but no smoke coming from them at all.... wierd, huh?

My friend took the exhaust off on his delsol and ran open header, you could literally hear him coming from a mile away, he got pulled like once a week for it ... his car was already loud because of performace cams.
He said he actually lost power due to loss of backpressure, but im sure you domestic guys dont have that problem :)

Running a motor with some sparkplugs missing just sounds stupid. I heard of this one guy running his motor with no headers at all. Just the exhaust intakes were show. THat had to been hard on the motor and probably ran like crap.

Some do sound bad ass. A buddy of mine showed me his 92 Mustang 5.0 Hatchback today. He has racing headers on it and not cats or mufflers. Now talk about loud. This sounded bad ass.
