High Idling & Stalling PROBLEM!!!

I have this problem where my car sounds like it's choking, my rpms race rapidly up and down, a STRONG smell of gasoline, and stalling---all this happens on occasion when I first start my car. As I continue to drive, the performance is VERY sluggish, and the car sounds more and more like a lawnmower....PLEASE help me figure out what the problem might be! Another thing is that it sometimes the exhaust backfires and the engine doesn't even start...

Here are a list of items that I have replaced myself to try and relieve the problem, but just didn't seem to fix the problem:

Fuel filter
Spark Plugs
Ignition Wires
Air filter
Fuel Injection cleaner

:confused:

Other than not starting my car too has some of those systems.

I bet P10DET knows whats up :)
