Constructed by Gary Rogers Motorsport on behalf of Holden this ute has been turned into a full on race car. Known as 'Thunder' it has a roll cage, full racing electronics, racing Holinger gearbox and a 600hp 5 litre V8 straight from the V8 Supercar series. It's to be debuted at Mt Panorama in less than two weeks giving the spectators the chance to experience what it's like to be in a V8 Supercar (with a lot less weight in the rear:D )
This is one serious machine:sun:

*drooling* :bloated: :bloated: :bloated: :bloated:

Not bad. Kinda looks like the Monte Carlo in the States from the front. 600hp, now how can that be pushed on that thing. I mean, light back means that this thing will be prone to wheelspin, I'm guessin'.

It won't be raced but just to give 'the normal' people the experience of a racing car and to have fun.

Let's not forget to mention the new 'Ute Muster' - a two-make ute race series with a lot of potential, pitting slightly modified Holden SS's against Ford's Falcon XR8s .. Talk about OVERSTEER!

Holden utes have a small but notable history in motorsport. Apart from being quite successful through the years (decades actually) in rallies, who could forget Allan Grice's 'Akubra Ute'?
Raced only once, at Bathurst's daunting Mount Panorama circuit during the 1992 12-hour Production Car race (showroom stock) against the likes of ex Formula-1 champ Alan Jones in a '92 BMW M5, this Holden-V8 engined (5 litre) ute - basically a humble Light-Commercial vehicle, still with 7 inches of ground clearance & 6-inch rims - was over two seconds a lap faster than the Bimmer, which was then one of the world's premier sport sedans!

The SS Ute's haven't been modified until recently. At the start they were detuned so it wouldn't be 5 seconds a lap faster but now they don't have restriction because they allowed the F@rd owners to put a cam in the car and make equal power. It's a wonder why any of them bought a F@rd.:p

It is great to see different types of cars go head to head:)

In Aussie (Adelaide) there is a mob called TrackSkill, Garry Baxter the owner/organiser has several VB V8 253 Commodores with a locked diff race exhaust, ported head & race cam..

I've booked in for the start of next year... Should be good FUN

you first lear how control and steer the car properly then heel toe gear changing at the end of the day you race 16 laps...

Have a look!

There is nothing wrong with Ford utes. I am the owner of an AU XR8 ute. i have recently superchrged her with a votech blower. I am running 7 pounds boost. I have also fitted her with extractors, a single 3 inch lukey exhaust. 17 inch XR8 rims. She came out of the factory with a 5 speed box and a matt black paint job. I have plans to port and polish the head in the near future. I got her dyno tested a while back and she popped 300 + kw at the treads. Holden ute suck. Its good to line one up and blow them away.

Well 300rWkW seems quite a bit optimistic for a 5 litre with just 7 pounds, more like 220-230rWkW:spit: . As an LS1 with 8 pounds runs around 305rWkW i don't see yours coming close with less cubes and boost.

I thought the AU XR8s were 5.7s? (clevland 351)
Which makes 300kw at the rear wheels with boost quite possible.
But then 300 is still a lot. Expecialy if their only 215kw at the crank stock.
So that 7psi has almost doubled the Crank hp.
300 at the crank on 7psi I would believe however.

Nope just a mediocre Windsor 5.0, which will change come the arrival of the AV Falcon, as the plant in Canada that was makin 'em has finally called it quits:bloated:

Stock they make 200kw and 220kw on the sedans but that is at it's limit without compromising drivability. You might be thinking of the old Holden 5 litres stoked to 5.7 which made 215kw in VS and 220kw in VT.
