Header or Pulleys?

I have about $200 to spend, would I benefit more from a Header or Underpulley kit? I have 2000 EX with AEM CAI, full exhaust...

id go with pulleys im not even sure if thats enough money but yeah go for the pulleys especially if you plan on going turbo.

Thats what I was thinking - will probably go turbo later - wonder if pulleys are hard to install? or cost much to have put on? You can find AEM kits for like $140 online...

If I was you i would go with the pulleys because you can't get a descent set of headers for 200 dollars. Your gonna spend more than that on the pulleys if you don't put em on yourself. If you had about 75 dollars more i'd go with the headers because I have headers and pulleys on my car and i noticed a bigger difference with the headers and they are also lighter than the stock manifold, it looks much cleaner, it adds more horsepower, and it would be easier for you to put the headers on yourself(except for those stuborn bolts). <-Use pb blaster for those.

Did you put the pulleys on yourself? If so, how hard was it? If not, how much did it cost? Did you feel anymore torque/hp from it?

Well first I went somewhere to get a estimate and they wanted like 300 bucks, so I ended up doing it myself and it was a pain in the A@#. First we couldnt some of the nuts off cuz the pulleys turn too, then when we got the nuts off some pulleys were stuck, and then we had to use a harmonic balancer to put the dang things back on.Oh yeah and its also hell getting to all the pulleys.You'll probably endup taking the front right wheel off. I noticed a difference, but I dont think it was worth it. You might be better at it than me though. :D

Oh yeah i probably would have went a lot easier if we would have left the belts on as long as we could to hold the pulleys still.:rolleyes:

why not just use a pulley wrench to hold the pulley still? i recommend saving up for headers, because honestly, pulleys doesn't do jack. in my experience.

yeah id go pulleys why was 350 on header just to get rid of it later id go with the unorthadox racing pulleys i think the ss set its like 300 plus install it should be worth it.

What do you mean the pulleys don't do jack? Import Racer ( I believe ) did a dyno test or the unorthodox racing pulleys on a 240sx and got about 8 ft/lbs of torque throughout the entire power band and 3-7 hp, the higher it reved the more the engine benefited. Headers (depending on design) might give you more top end, with a slight loss of torque. Go with the pulleys and a straight pipe!

Doyou plan on keeping your A/C and your P/S? If you are going to be pulling that out then it would be better and cheaper and you would get more horses if you went with the UR Race Crank Pulley. That is what I have and I noticed a big diffrence.

I will be keeping my AC and power steering, so thats why I was thinking to go with the pulley kits...
