I was wondering if anyone has this similar problem and if they do what does it mean. I have a apex'i n1 catback which i think might make the smoke more obvious. It only does this whenever i take off real fast or shift at high rpm's. Everyone tells me when i'm racing that when i shift into second a black cloud of smoke shoots out. I wanna know who else this happens to or is it just me?

My car does that as well. I wouldnot worry about it. They are just Carbon Deposits blowing off.

if your burning oil then blue smoke would come out.
could it be your cat ? maybe its old and getting clogged, idk just a guess.

Yeah actually it could be the catalytic convertor because thats the only part of my exhaust I haven't replaced yet. I think its that and carbon deposits in my exhaust because i usually don't get the gas too much and when i do i think it's kinda cleanin it out. <- A good excuse to speed and accelerate real fast.:D

The other thing that it could be is a bad 02sensor in which your check engine light would be on or your fuel is running rich. But I bet it is just Carbon Deposits.

If there is dark smoke coming from your engine, this is not good. The smoke is a sign that oil is getting in your cumbustion chamber. Not Good!!! Your valves could be warped. More than likely your oil seals are warped and are leaking oil. Anyway you look at, your engine is in need of maintanence. Its show its age.

burning oil= blueish smoke
burning coolant= white smoke
running rich = black smoke
Try doing tune up stuff like plugs, air filter, running some injector cleaner etc. All of these things can cause a engine to run rich if in need of replacement or cleaning.
