Hey guys,
Got a question for all you bare metal users who mask paint jobs with it. Anyone else seem to get that sticky adhesive residue left over on their models when they remove the foil ? I am wondering if anyone has found something that removes it safely without harming the paint. I can't seem to find anything that works. I've tried soap and water but that doesn't seem to work. I've also tried things such a windex and other cleaners but they ruin the paint. I've also used this stuff used to removed gooey stuff on surfaces called Goo Gone. Again, that stuff is too strong and removes paint.
So, anyone got any ideas??

Try some Tamiya polishing or waxing compound. that should do the trick.

I have found regular rubbing alcohol does the trick(or even Tamiya acryllic thinner) so long as the paint job is not acryllic.
Once you have cleaned off the residue, then lightly polish the area to return the full gloss to it.

Brass-O. Works wonders for stuff like this.
