VTEC spot plug

I have an Integra with the B18B1 (no VTEC) and it's got oil leaking out from the plug where the VTEC solenoid would go on a gsr. (right beside the distributor cap)

There is a rubber plug covering the hole, I bought the plug and am wondering if I need to remove the valve cover gasket, or can i just rip out the plug and slide in the new one?
