Surfing the boards and I found this in my area"

"1990 Civic Hatch
I bought this car for a project and instead I just got a 1992 Civic Hatchback CX, so need to sell the 90. It's a 4-speed, red exterior, gray/black interior, has some body damage on driver side, needs some work to drive down the road which wouldn't be much if you know how to remove spot welds and replace and reweld. car runs, I think it smokes a little, but not sure. Great for a project. I was going to drop a B16A1 into this and give it new paint job, but now it needs a new home. I have pictures and can take more of specific ones if need be. just let me know and I will email them to you. I need $600.00 out of it."

I can do the body work, that's not a probelm for me. But what do you guys think, is it a good deal? I'm thinking of this being my project car, do some custom body work on it, drop a bigger motor in, go all out on it. Think I should go for it?

Sounds like a good deal kicker.

4 spd = STD hatch (or CX in canada)

Some guy here in napa is trying to sell a 93 CX with 100k for $4000

std, so I'm guessing that's no power door locks, no power windows, no moonroof/sunroof. What about power steering and air conditioning?

Melt

haha, tight rims on one side and bootsy stock on the other, that shits hilarious.

And no, the STD has no power steering or A/C either.

That car looks like a great project. Go for it.

I don't mind not having the power steering. Here's the latest email about it

"In short it was slid into a side of a large curb on a bridge. I am not a body person so I am not sure if the parts can be unbolted and replaced with one off another. I never had anytime to tear into it. A neighbor of mine knows a guy that does body work and I was going tow it up there and have him fix it for me. The guy that was going to do the body work on it told me since Honda's are a sub frame a lot of the parts are spot welded or something like that. I can take pictures of it in the day light for you to better understand what I am talking about. When I bought this I was told it had a broken axle and the rear might need suspension work, which was a lie, because they marked the damage that was right behind the rear tire under the car, and the front driver side axle was just fine."

I can take off the front core support and weld a new one back on, I'm not sure if it needs a new one. It needs a new front axle, is that much of a problem?

Hey thats a great deal for 600 bucks! Changing axles is not a problem. Make sure to use ur old ones for core exchange. Other than that its not hard to change the axles. The only problem u gonna run into is taking it out. The threads usually rust in the well hub and u have to bang it out but its a pain. I used an impact hammer to make my job easier.

Melt

Dfarres has power steering, but thats cause his hatch used to be an auto. Apparently the A/T hatches came with a lot of shit the M/T ones didnt.

LX / EX sedan ownz j00 all. Cruise, power everything, automatic seatbelts, and then I got the R134A A/C coversion. 30 degree air!! Whoo!

Lowball him first. $600 sounds okay, but with body damage, always try and get lower. But I cant see any pics either, so I dont know. :D

More pics, but first here's an email from her
""It doesn't need the front end replaced just a frame that is right behind the front tires and another frame that is right behind the rear tire or somewhere in that area. None of the suspension looks like its messed up at all. All the suspension looks like it is in working order.""

Well, that top picture is the steering rack. I forgot what that little thing right there is called specifically.

The bottom two are whats the worse problem. I suppose if you had a good frame puller, you could pull that bottom piece out. That is where the lower control arm bolts to. That is why the back tire is pulled in so far. That may be hard to get perfect again, so you may end up having camber problems.

Im not sure what the third and fourth pictures are of. Maybe you know?

Also, our cars have a uniframe. Which means there is no frame that can just be fixed, like in a truck, etc.

It looks like most of that is just labor on pulling, welding, etc. I doube they sell replacement parts for those.

that car is gonna take a lot of work. i don't think it is really worth the effort. it is definitely a project. it's a judgement call on your part. i wouldn't touch do it, but that is my opinion.
