Do you prefer the Espace III or IV ?
What mini van would you choose if you had to (Espace, C8, Sharan, Voyager, Odysee, Phédra, Transsport, 807, etc.) ?

Renault Espace III (appeared in 1996) :

Espace IV (appeared this September) :

Heh, the top one looks similar to a Silvia (the headlights anyways), and the bottom one looks like a cross between a Focus and a new Civic SI :p

I guess I would take the bottom one, both are kinda lame looking tho..

Silvia= Nissan 200SX :)

But he means the S15 model not available in Europe I'm guessing.

The Escape 4 looks far crisper and nicer- lets also hope they have gotten rid of the drastic electrical problems that dogged the Espace III

If I had to choose a mini-van though- it'd be a SEAT Alhambra 1.8Turbo:)

ok, thaks for these infos !
The electrical problems were not so bad on the Espace III, still there were too much for the price. The Espace IV seems not having these problems any more and has been designated by the european press as the best current mini van (comfort, handling, equipement, silence, etc.).

The Alhambra is nice but is going to become old... I'd prefer the Espace 2.0 Turbo (not the 3.5 V6 and V6dci only available in automatic :( ) : I'm fan of this car, allthough I didn't like the mini vans before this 4th generation of Espace. ;)
and I maybe a little bit nationalist, but compared to YJHed, it's very few :D

Yeah.......Very true about the Escape III- Also we must remember that even in its last days it was still being praised as one of the best MPV's ever ;) I have yet to check out an Espace IV- but my expectations are high- HOPEFULLY Renault will take the same steps Peugrot did when they wiped out the electrical problems of the 6O5 away when they made the 6O7 (I forget the name of the wiring :()

LOL- you have every right to be nationalist about your cars- you make good cars :D- Any idea on how long left before the Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan are replaced?

I also have another idea- why don't Skoda do an MPV based on the Sharan? and price it so that lots of people can afford it (like they always do) and of course you know when you are buying Skoda that you are buying quality and reliability.

It's the Espace III, not Escape ;)
or maybe it has another name abroad ?...

I don't know when the Galaxy, Sharan and Alhambra will be replaced, but they have to change them quickly because the new Voyager, the C8/ Ulysse/ 807/ Phédra, Espace IV have just been replaced.

Skoda, why not, but there is already an offer with the Galaxy for a cheap mini van. Ford is not better than Skoda, maybe it's the contrary.

The 605 and the XM had many electric problems. But they were quickly resolved (my father had an XM V6 of 1993 and none problems)... Alas, people only remembers the problems. Same things for the Smart and the Classe A.

Nope- it was a moment of confusion in which I called it an Escape :o

The Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra still can compete however- the competition is getting a little heated- but they'll cope ;)

I've not the sales in Europe of the Espace, C8, Voyager (replaced mini vans) and of the Alhambra, Sharan, and Galaxy but I'm sure the VAG/Ford vans are not well sold still. That's normal, they're 6 years old.
