Lancer Evo Update

Okay, here's all the info on what's happening with the Lancer.
First off with the good news, the Lancer Evo is coming to America. Here is the official website: http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMSA/jsp/evo/index.jsp
It is unclear about which Evolution is coming (there are pictures of every Evolution on the site), but it looks like VIII. There is a contest where you can win some wheels and an Evo.
Second off (here comes the sad news):
Mitsubishi has resetup their rallying structure for 2003. With new colors and a new company:

and here is the AWFUL news!
Mitsubishi has pulled out of the World Rally Championship for 1 year. They hope to spend the year testing to come back in 2004. This wouldn't be such a bad thing, but Mitsubishi is considering switching from the Lancer Evo to the Colt (a much smaller/lighter car) for it's rally needs. For those of you who don't know, the reason the Lancer Evolution is so freakin' awesome is because it is built to run in the World Rally Championship. Without that, *sigh*... The decision should be made within 4 months:

Check out www.wrc.com to keep up to date on Mitsubishi's rally doings. The latest articles show that Subaru approves of Mitsubishi's sabatical and that Mitsubishi just got the former-tech leader of Peuguot's 206 rally project. In addition, Delecour supports the move to the Colt over the Lancer Evo. He doesn't believe it has the long term holding power. At the very least, Delecour wants a much lighter Lancer Evo.
