Project update: Possible car, pictures.

Well I might have found the perfect car for my project. It is a 1990 LeBaron GTC VNT, 1 of 25, so it is even far rarer than the old GTC. It has been abandon by a transmission shop for like four or five months and the tags expired in February. I am going to have a friend that live in that state talk to the DMV and fill out some paperwork to get the car, and then have it shipped here. It is going to need quite a bit of work but I am going to buy back my old GTC from the insurance company and use it old parts, then part out what is left and sell it back to a salvage yard.
Anyhow; this thread wouldn’t even be worth reading if I didn't have some pictures now would it? Keep in mind that this car will most likely be either free or $100 bucks at the most, then less than $200 to ship. I just love the interior as well, it has a different instrument panel which curves around and looks so much better than my old boxy one, and the shifter looks better as well, also it has a hand brake, convenient for drifting. :D
Anyways; on with the pictures:

I am going to have some more interior shots and some engine shots soon. So vote and let me know if you think I should get this car if I can, I will probably get it anyway, I just want to know what you people think about it. Also if you have any advice on getting the car at all from the state. I am just concerned about getting a title for the car.
Thanks.

just remember to take lots of pics before the restoration and make sure to show them to the dmv and get an estimate from a body shop of how much it would cost to restore it because if you restore it and the original owner comes back and wants it you don't have to just give it up he first will have to pay you for the work you did to restore the car and the higher the estimate the better because he would have to pay that amount to get it back.:sun:

Exactly, thanks for the advice. I am going to keep EVERY receipt for anything I buy for it. I hear that if you fill out the paper work at the DMV and they grant you the car they void the old title and issue you a new one. I hope that is true, I mean they would have to, to hand the car over to me.

It has the same motor as the last one, different turbo. This one has a Garrett VNT turbo, or variable nozzle turbo. It has two impellers as smaller one for low speeds and a larger one for high speeds. No matter what I am replacing the engine with a brand new one and I am putting a brand new Garrett T3 on. I am also going to have the engine balanced and blueprinted and the head ported and polished before the new stuff is put in. Too bad nothing under the hood of my GTC is usable, and thanks.
As for the head lights, I could, but it would look ugly. I like how these look, plus to doors flip down when the lights are on, and they can cut off your fingers when they go up, HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!

That is right, it is mine. My friend will be picking the title up tomorrow. I have also confirmed that it is a VNT, 1 of 25 produced. I can't wait to get it here and get started. I just remembered that I need to get down to the salvage yard and cover the windows to mine so the interior doesn't get damaged beyond repair.

Hehe, no prob.
Mine was 1 of 94, this one is 1 of 25.
Mine was the Turbo II which had a 2.2L I4 with an intercooled Garrett T3 turbo, this one is a 2.2L I4 with a Garrett VNT intercooled turbo. VNT means variable nozzle turbo, so it has two impellers one for low speeds and one for high speeds.
It also has a different dash than mine does; this one looks a lot better in the dash area.
That is about all I can think of, oh and this one also has a sunroof, my old one didn't.
On a side note, there is another problem with my old GTC. The salvage yard it is at dismantled it and has put the parts up for sale. I don't know what parts have been sold if any. The fact is that I haven't received a check from the insurance company yet and I still hold the title. I was down there today to cover up the windows when I found this out. I told the guy there that to cover his own ass he better not have sold any of those parts because I still hold the title and I could have him arrested for grand theft auto. He told me that the insurance company gave him the go ahead to part it out. I told him that they were going to be sued and if he is lying then he is in deep shit. He go pissed off at me and told me to leave. I said don't be surprised if I come back, and with the police. You damn well you don't have the title for that car.
I called the insurance and they said they did nothing of the sort. I told them that they better figure it out and get it fixed because someone is going to be in deep shit for this. I am also going to call Bill Gebhart and tell him about this. He is a local news guy that uncovers shit like this and puts it on the news. I am going to tarnish the crap out of this guys reputation. Nobody will buy from his shop when I get done with him.

Bout damn time you got another one, poly! You gave me a newfound respect for LeBarons. Be proud. lol, by the way, make sure you keep us updated on how this junkyard thing works out. I'd be pissed as shit if that happened to me. Somebodys ass would be on the line for that shit.
I HATE insurance companies. If I had a choice, I wouldn't take car insurance. It's SO much cheaper to pay out of pocket for the little fender benders and stuff and the way they're so incredibly quick to take as much of your money as they can and then SO GOD DAMNED SLOW to give it back. That's just incompatent. I had a friend who got into a wreck with a broke uninsured driver and she had insurance against uninsured drivers (for like 10 extra a month. that adds up) but they wouldn't cover her because he wasnt they right type of uninsured driver or some shit like that. They'll take so much of your money and then if you ever actually DO need it, they try so hard to find some stupidass loophole to keep as much of it as they can. It's ridiculous. And it defeats the purpose of having insurance altogether.
KICK THEIR ASSES POLYGON. You have my sacred blessing.

Cyprus, it's absolutely stupid to drive without insurance. Sure, you pay out of pocket for something like a low speed collision, but what happens when someone swerves in front of you on the highway, and you hit them doing 70mph?
Sure, they did something really stupid, but since you were speeding, they'll find you partially at fault, even if it's as little as 10%. Someone get's crippled in the accident, lawsuits follow, and heads roll. Gee, what's 10% of 3 million dollars? It's what you have to pay because you didn't drive insured.
On a side note, my brother was injured in a car accident last year, and has permanent brain damage affecting his short term memory. He'll probably never work in his life now, and it'll take 3 years for his case to go through, according to his lawyer. The good news is, he's likely to get in excess of one million CAD, which invested properly in cheap houses should make him comfortably wealthy for the rest of his life.
If the driver hadn't been insured, he'd be completely fucked.

Well, here is my plan. I am definitely going to get call Bill Gebhart about this and see if I can get this on the news, I want to tarnish this businesses reputation. Also if ANY parts are sold of the car I might have him arrested, or perhaps I will simply sue him as well. I will also sue the insurance for more money if any parts have been sold.
The insurance company is going to talk with them to see what is going on. I think this guy simply found someone that needed a part off it and dismantled it so he could sell the parts thinking I would never find out.
Here is the conversation between the owner and myself, I was VERY miffed as you can tell:
We dismantled the car. I said, you'd better not have, it's not your car. He claimed that the insurance gave him the go ahead to part out the car. I then told him that they had not given me a check for that car and that I still hold the title for the car, so it is still my car. He then says that possession is nine tenths of the law. I said, MAN are you stupid or something? That works with a stereo, but not a car, that don't mean **** if you don't have the title to the car. He then said you can talk to my lawyer, and gave me his name. I said look pal, you are the one that needs to talk to your lawyer, because if I call up the insurance company and they say otherwise you could be in for it. Also insurance companies sometimes forget things, if you honestly think they will take the fall you are sadly mistaken. It is called grand theft auto, for your sake I hope you haven't sold any of the parts to that car, or you might find yourself in a jail cell at the end of the week. He then said you need to leave, and my lawyer will take care of this. I then said who do you think you are??? You run a damn salvage yard, you’re nobody! You’re a two bit no talent ass clown that’s in deep ****. There isn't damn thing your lawyer can do to help you, so have a nice day you sack of ****!
Someone is going to pay, I am fed up with all the bullshit that has gone on for more than four months now, that accident was in August!
As for shipping, I am looking into some different places to get the best price. I mean from state to state it shouldn't be too expensive to have it shipped. I guess we'll see.

Well here is an update on the situation.
1. My friend has still not obtained the title, and I haven't heard from him in a few days. I am going to call him and find out what is going on and take care of this myself if needs be.
2. It turns out that they had removed the turbo, transaxle, and engine from the car. My bet is that they had them sold and though that they would be getting the car no matter what. No matter I made sure that everything was put back in and I told them that if the even so much as touch it again he was going to get his ass sued off and I would have him arrested for theft. I am still getting in touch with Bill Gebhart about this though; I am also going to contact the Better Business Bureau.
3. Kris was right, shipping is a bitch. So far the lowest price I can find is about $500. It is state to state. I just don't get it. I had a friend that shipped a car from Pennsylvania to Colorado for $770. Oh well, it doesn't matter. I'm not paying for it anyhow.
