My Civic is actually a 95' but, hey this is the only kit that come close to it!
It's going to be a challenge to replicate my the bumpers since this kit does not come with factory OEM bumpers... we'll see how rusty my skills are...:evillol:

Actually, I've been thinking about de-riceing this kit for quite a while. What I was thinking of doing was making a copy of the Hasegawa front bumper, and using the Revell Si rear bumper that I didn't use on the back. It fits almost perfectly and looks fairly similar. then the only major work would be removing those ugly side skirts and replicating the stock rockers. Keep us posted on what you end up doing.

AAHHH FLUCKS!!!
Your 1/1 civic...I'm speechless...It's gorgeously something more... o_O
I'm doing something like that, one of my original plans was to swap one of those hasegawa civic front and put on the revell...But since Japan ($¨&*(*%!!) doesnt get any revell kits (rarely one or another) I wasn't able to do it,so here's what I've done:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t667696.html
Still a long wip!
I saw someone who de-riced this kit,the result was awesome, exept that he didn't de-rice the rear bumpers or the side skirts... I'll look after it than i'll post it!

Thanks for all the kind words on the 1:1, i must say i do like my own style... :p
Sorry to say no updates as of yet since all i've done is stare at the plastic... lol
i thought of going Si bumpers from the EM1(99-00 civic Si) revell kit, but at most may only use the rear one, since the front don't line up with the EJ1's(92-95 civic coupe) headlights. Besides i really want to hack up that ricey bumper and turn it into a real piece of JDM art...lol..
hopefully i'll have some pics of my progress up sometime after Christmas..:sunglasse

RAW...side skirts off... need to figure out how to transition the "skirt delete" to on the lower rear quarter, to match the door indent..

Lots of VERY careful sanding should do the trick. Also if you can get your hands on some small shaped files, those would really help too. I know my local Hobby store sells small files in different shapes. Looks like you're off to a pretty good start so far though!!

Ahhhhhhh! that's awesoooome!!
I agree with energon,careful sanding...
You know,I would place a piece of masking tape on the part where the body has the shape I want, then put some epoxy putty over it...
when It dries,i'd remove the masking tape with the epoxy putty, and then I'd place some sandpaper on that piece of epoxy. Then it'll have the shape I want for the body...Some light sanding would do the work...
I hope you got it,and I hope it can help you! ;)
Gosh,I need to get my hands on one of those! Dammit Japan!

rod_k2 reminded me of something else I would suggest. When you go to sand it, put masking tape over anything you don't want to get sanded. The tape will help protect those areas from getting sanded along with whatever else you're sanding. But keep an eye on it, you may have to replace the tape from time to time if you start to sand through the tape.

i was planning to chop the hasegawa front clip and from the door ding guards down, but i am coming to realize that you are correct, there is an indentation on the coupe door/quarters that is not present in the hatchback.
i thought the doors were interchangable from 92-95?
on a third look, it seems that the hatch and coupe share the lower indentation, that that the hasegawa kit is in error.

What indentation are you talking about? If you are referring to the lack of "door ding guards" (door moldings) in that pic above, it's because it's a CX/VX trim level which doesn't have moldings at all.

With a dust of primer...still needs more work putty...
The front bumper still needs some serious care & attention, not to mention the overall fitting of both bumpers... The last time i built a Revell USA kit was back in the late 80's...this reminds me why i usually don't buy revell...:headshake
The white plastic you see under the doors will serve as the rocker panel extensions, black of course. And the hood is fit test fitting only...obviously  lol...

Looks like you're doing a great job so far! Keep it coming! As far as the hood goes, yours came with the clear hood right? The clear hood is a stock hood (except for the fact that it's clear) but all you gotta do is paint it and it'll work just fine.

I always like the concept of replicating one's 1:1 ride...too bad there are no '91 Explorer kits out there, LOL. Great work so far. I know you will be able to get it in the end.

Great work on the bumper! Seems like you are going to suffer a little bit,but that's normal! :p
I think the revell civics need a little correction on the headlights...I think they're too big and a little weird! o_O

Ya Rod, i'm suffering alright, the bumper is tough, but it;s coming along.. I agree with you on the headlights, they are slightly out of proportion, but i've been thinking about it, and it may not be the wisest option to play with, since it mean modifying clear parts + having to extend the hood...i'm too lazy
