clutch replacement question

....any ideas on how much replacing a clutch assembly on a 89' Civic SI should be? (labor only).....tks

For labor only i would estimate around $150-200. Most shops charge about $35/ hour. I can do a clutch in 3 hours but you have to figure the time to get the flywheel resurfaced.

At honda we charge about $80 an hour for labor and a clutch will usally charge about 6 hours. So that is $480 for labor and a Honda factory clutch kit costs about $300 if i remeber right.

If you want to go with a non performance clutch get a Luk clutch, holds like 20% more than stock and it's pretty cheap. I got mine for 90 bucks but my dad builds trannys for a living so that was factory direct pricing. It'll probably be about a 500 dollar job for parts and everything. It's really not that hard to do, you might want to see if you can find someone to do it. The luk kit comes fir everything you need a pressure plate, a clutch, a pilot bearing all that good stuff. Labor rates suck on transmissions my dad rebuilds tranny's for $900, the average price around here for a complete rebuild is $1,900 If that gives you any idea of how much places charge for labor.

All the shops that i know up here in PA charge $35/hour. You can only expect Honda to charge more like any other dealership garage would. Shit i wouldn't pay anyone to do a clucth. It easy, than again everything on D-blocks is easy to do. I can tear a motor out of one these in 45 minutes....funny how it take about 2.5 hours to get another one back in and running. You really can't mess things up on these motors too much.
