I just got a new 2007 double cab tundra with the smaller 4.7 liter enegine. I am doing 75% City 25% Highway currently. The sticker stated 14 city and 18 highway if I remember correctly. I have about 900 miles on it now and getting an average of 12 MPG, no towing, one passanger. Will this improve as the truck breaks in? Anything I can do to improve milage without voiding the warranty?

I just got the 2007 Access cab, 4X4... my mileage wasn't great either, but: I drive using the manual S shift and keep my RPMs in the 1-1.5K range; little easier on the acceleration and have got about 16... but when I filled up and did the gallon into actual mileage - it was certainly better than the dash readout said. I got 17.2 MPG. Also, I have a tonneau cover coming because on ly last toyota tundra, it gave me about 11% better mileage (less drag) and remember, you shouldn't drive this model without the tailgate (so the manual says).

Hope this helped. Robo

I guess I am lucky! I have an 07 Tundra double cab with the 5.7 and I have 4000 miles on it and have gotten 16 mpg on every tank. Probably 70% highway driving. Does the 4.7 have the 6 speed tranny?
