Anti-Roll Bar bushes

quick set of question:

At what rate (typically) do anti roll bar bushes wear?
Is it even normal for them to wear?
Is it indicative of other problems?
Should the bushes be wearing out before the links?

Am I asking questions that are horribly general and depend on too many other factors?

Very normal for them to wear. There is no way to predict when they wear out, other than millions of miles of experience from other owners of the same car. For instance, over on the Toyota Celica board they might report that the bushings wear out somewhere around 150k, whereas on the Ford F150 forum they might claim 80k as an average.

They wear out for the same reason that sneaker soles wear out. Its a soft isolating bushing that is riding on steel, just like sneakers are soft rubber that is isolating your feet from concrete.

As far as the last question; yes... way too general :)

But... anti-roll bars are very simple pieces. There is nothing that really affects their wear other than driving. Its not like alignment or anything can really accelerate their wear. If they wear out, its just because they wear out.
