2006 2500HD Odometer after dark

When starting the truck after dark (auto headlights come on) all of the dash lights are dimmed with the exception of the odometer readout. It is bright until I rotate the dimmer knob just the slightest bit, it then dims as it should. Took it into the dealer, initially they said they would order a new instrument cluster for it. They called back a couple of days later and indicated they wanted to work on it for a couple of days before replacing the cluster. Any others have a similar problem or suggestions?

But if moving the headlight adjustment make it work right I would be checking the head light switch dimmer.

But it is only the Odometer that is not responding.. Sounds like cluster to me

Had it back to the dealer to troubleshoot odometer issue. They told me it is working correctly since they have a brand new 08 on the lot that does the same thing. I can't believe that all the dash lights dim automatically when the headlights come on with the exception of the odometer which must be dimmed manually. Any others have a similar problem?
