ball joint removal HELP

I am in the 3rd day:banghead: of attempting to remove the ball joints from my dodge ram 3500 4x4. I can't get the steering knuckle to separate. Need any and all advice available out there. Please send email to [email protected] if you have any tips... I know it shouldn't be this difficult to get done.

My suggestion is to use an appropriatly sized 2 arm puller if your not already. Place a floor jack under the lower control arm and jack it up a little, loosen the
castle nut till there is roughly 1/4" between the nut and the steering nuckle. insert the puller and tighten the puller till the knuckle pops off the ball joint.

If that still doesn't do it and YOU DO NOT PLAN ON KEEPING THE BALL JOINTS you could try heating the area with a torch and the try the above but be aware of what is around you, there are alot of rubber boots, hoses, gaskets and bushings/grommets in there that can melt away and fall on you or on something that can catch on fire.

note: if it is the same as my 1500 ram the lower ball joint can be removed with a puller, you just have to remove or bend the brake backing plate.

note: Autozone has the pullers and a spring compressor for rent(free with a refundable deposit) just bring in a measurment the round and straight area of the steering knucke(they come in many different sizes) the upper and lower will take two different sizes.
