ENGINE KNOCK---on 01 Cobra w/Vortech

I was curious if anyone originally had the same problem as me. When I originally slapped my blower on the 01 engine-----I developed engine knock within 2 weeks----was using Amsoil 5-30 synthetic. Luckily I was able to get it covered under warranty---by pulling off the blower and showing up at the dealer with it looking 'bone stock' lol. However, when I reinstalled the blower----I installed a high volume oil pump to protect me in the high RPMs---no problem since----don't expect one since the bearings defintely get protection. I was just curious to see if any one with a Vortech had a similar problem while using the stock oil pump.

Are you talking about spark knock? or internal components hitting where they should not? Try backing your timming down a bit, running 93 octane?

it has nothing to do with the timing-----the car is tuned by one of the top 5 stang tuners in the country---even more so---I was just checking to see if anyone had a similar problem. The problem has been diagnosed----it was simply that there wasn't any lubrication to the bearings with the stock oil pump. The only change from the old and new engine has been the oil pump. My post was asking about someone who had developed the same problem 2 weeks after installing the blower. I was getting engine knock------not engine pinging. Pinging is heard right off the bat if you have the timing adjusted too far. Engine knock is little more difficult to listen for----until you hear it profusely after severe damage.

I'd get a honda if I was bankrupt, living in the ghetto, and didn't care about riding around in a hooptee.

i defiently would....not many american cars good in autocross...specially a mustang.....besides i have a heightened fear of stangs where i live.. too many navy, marine, and army guys drive them and do stupid stuff in them just cause the have a GT, COBRA, ROUSH, or a SALEEN....stupid people...if u ever see more than one navy guy in a mustang... get out the way

but my wife wants a stang.. had a chance to buy her a '66

do you honestly think that a mustang would be found in an autocross?????? C'mon man, thats for you Hondas and WRXs----not a friggen mustang. Funny remark about the jar heads in the stangs-----funny because where I live---too many mooks with sawed off shotguns---hiding behind their honda tinted glass. Guess we all have quality of life issues in each neighborhood.

hey at least u can out run them.....here they just come at ya speeding thru an intersection...literally have a vivid memory of a story where 2 guys i think navy b/c of the time...were racing early in the morning stupid b/c there was ice on the road) hit a patch of ice on the bridge and literall flew off the bridge and landed in the street below killing the driver (no seatbelt) another...a drunk sailor (or marine, can't remember) leaving a bar late at night gets on 264 going the wrong direction in his stang and hits a van killing the father, mother (who was in labor going to the hospital) sibilings, and himself. i guess i can't blame it on the stangs.....just the drivers....

Hey Vortech,

Your car sounds awesome. You must have at least 35k into your car, you think you could spring a couple hundred for a digital camera:)

I am a Military Stang Boy, and I do not think my Stang is a Space shuttle, it is the Space Shuttle:D

tried---but my digital camera produces the pics in 128K size------and this exceeds website capabilities-----at least thats the error message that came up. I can't get the pic any smaller to meet the sites size quality.
