Battery replacement

While I was refilling the radiator today on my wife's '03 Rendezvous, I realized that the battery will need to be replaced soon. I began to study how to R&R the battery, and it looks like that diagonal support/brace needs to come out first, which appears to require removal of the electric panel and ECM box. is that correct?

We have an 02 CXL. I replaced the battery about 8 months ago. The only piece I had to remove was the diagonal cross member support. After that the battery came right out (after removing the clamp of course)
