Who in here is a fan of the 08 DGCs? US News & World Report released 2008 car rankings, and the "pooch portability" awards (including the Dog Car of the Year Award!) - the Caravan received praise in both rating reports.

Great features, IMO. Any takers??

While I'm sharing cool links, hit this one too -

Charging up your iPod wherever you are - that wins the "pod portability" award in my book.

i dont like the styling. I think ti now looks like a box on wheels. Also, I understand you cannot fit 4 x 8 sheets betweern the wheel wells anymore. I still think the 96-00 body was the best looking.

I've read you can fit the 4x8 plywood in the 2008 vans. We need an actual owner to confirm this.

Gosh that van got beat with an ugly stick. T&C's are even worse. :puke:

Draw a rectangle and hold it next to it. And of course its going to get praise, thats what they pay people to do, kinda like the Presidential Campaigns. They are not attractive cars driving down the street. Pretty soon they will have there long list of problems too, always happens when a new version comes out. How do the rear facing people watch TV, does the table have air bags? I've been in one and the interior is very cheap looking and the seats are :bs:, they can't be comfy for more than an hour, unless you like sitting on hard surfaces. I would feel like crap if my boys had to ride in one for a long trip. The table wobbles alittle. I'll stop here.

96-00 was better than this, 01-07 even better

Chrysler's world is ending soon.
The vans look good in person on the outside, but see many complaints about the gear shift lever and the transmission linkage in the dashboard falling apart in people's hand. Lee Iacocacola is turning over in his grave.

2000izusu, Chrysler makes it seem that my world is coming to an end sometimes but I don't understand why you think I make it sound like the world is coming to an end. I'm just stating facts, asking questions, and speaking my mind on this van. I put my kids first in what I drive. Comfort and safety are the most important to me.

I fully agree with Bernard Feltzer. Chrysler could have done alot better. If line-up, quality, customer service, and safety issues on existing line-up became there priorities, they might make it but I just don't see it.

I'm just stating facts

the only fact you state is "the table wobbles a little" everything else is opinion which you have a right to, just as i do. do you own a 2008? i don't but will be looking in the future (next 3-4 years).

Hey 2kizusu;

I thought since you got your van in October of this year that you were going to have it for quite a while? Three to four years is not quite a while. Remember your post in this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=754027

You stated: "i just picked up a 2001 caravan this week for 5 large (grand). it has the 3.3. and judging by the flood of voyagers, caravans, and town and countrys in allpar's 200,000 mile club. i am going to have it quite a while!"

Are you stating facts or opinions, or are you just trolling for someone else to help subsidize your cheap car buying habits?

2Kisuzu just likes to get under peoples skin. However, I agree with both of you. Chrysler's quality has gone down hill. I own an 05' Caravan SXT, and the interior is cheap and the seats are uncomfortable. This is my last Chrysler ever, after driving nothing but Chrysler vehicles all my life. Looking at Lexus for my next set of wheels.

Hey 2kizusu;

I thought since you got your van in October of this year that you were going to have it for quite a while? Three to four years is not quite a while.

Doc i plan on keeping it longer than 3-4 years (not that it is ur business). and i have never said that i would sell it (i just bought it after researching vans). if you must know my family is growing:shakehead and i will be selling my fun toy the 91 wrangler (no time for fun toys with kids), and the 99 cherokee and possible the izusu due to needing to fit three car seats comfy in the vehicles. can't afford new vehicles so when the new (used) comes down in price i will move on it! but for now the kids ride in the caravan. except when we have to use the other vehicles to shoehorn them in the back of those. so in the future it is on my wish list to get another van when the money is right (which won't be for a while).

thanks all for listening to my family situation!

i hope you are loving yours!!!! happy holidays! mike

Hey Mike;

If your family is growing, why not consider a real van? Here are a couple of examples that won't break the bank, considering new ones go for over $40K:

http://www.classyauto.com/v/Chevrolet+Express+Van/Conversion/38322

http://www.sterlingvans.com/uv0005.htm

I used to own a conversion van, and they are much more comfortable and roomier. Easier to get the kids in and out. And when they grow up, they will have much more room. Our family hates the cramped quarters of the mini van compared to the conversion van we had. And, when we took trips in the big van, with the rear stereo and TV, I never heard the kids once ask "Are we there yet?" Now that we have the minivan, quess what I've heard lately, yep, you guessed it, "Are we there yet?".

Happy Holidays!

Interesting stories of the family man's life, haha.

This Friday I will get the opportunity to test drive the 08 Grand Caravan. Should be fun. Anything in particular you guys want to know about it or want me to check out?

Do I own a 2008? No, I did check a couple out and did alot of research on them. There's alot more facts out there then just the table. Not everything is covered under there lifetime warranty. If you do look in the next 3 to 4 years as you mentioned this should give you and everyone else that is interested in that time frame alittle more out look on the 5th generation van. Good luck to you.

Well the optional bumper-to-bumper coverage should include everything that you would reasonably want covered. For more info on it, read up on it here - http://www.dodge.com/en/lifetime_powertrain_warranty/faq.html

The swivel seats aren't exactly the main attraction with the Caravan, but its still very cool if you're in the market for one and its tempting to get one with all the bells and whistles. I'll let you guys know how it goes. :)

The test drive went well - I liked it! There was enough space in the back to seat 5 adults, and having two 6' males in the back with that table in the middle wasn't cramped at all, really.

It was a really smooth ride and handled well.

I wish I had the chance to play with the MyGig and/or Sirius, but oh well. It had dual DVD players and everything else - very impressive.

The back was really spacious (like the trunk space behind the last row of seats) , and of course, those seats could be folded down to free up even more room.

Awesome ride.
