Hope Andy doesn't mind me hijacking the idea, but it seems like a good one. I've had lots of pretty successful and satisfying builds, most for customers but even a couple for me! Any comments are welcome, some of you may have missed the threads on these cars. Thanks for looking! :p

But I have to wonder why someone would want a replica of a station wagon. That's like building a model of my mom's minivan. :screwy:

Because fullsize, RWD v8 wagon owners like myself love our cars. Here's my own:

I'll paste, yet again, my response to people who just lump station wagons in with minivans and SUVs... :rolleyes:

Find me a car that can do all of the following and I will buy it and sell my Buick tomorrow:

1. Have RWD
2. Run 14s or quicker in the 1/4 mile
3. Handle reasonably well
4. Carry 8 people in comfort
5. Have all luxury options including power windows/doors/locks/seats/mirrors, Automatic Climate Control, Auto-dim mirror, ride leveling, a/c, etc etc
6. Carry 91 cubic feet of cargo (more than a standard box 1/2 ton pickup by the way)
7. Tow my racecar to and from the track reliably
8. Like all RWD GMs, be incredibly easy to work on
9. Have a relatively inexpensive and VAST aftermarket
10. Bulletproof reliability
11. Cost well under $10,000 for an ultra-low mileage example

Now if you can find me another car (besides the Caprice wagon) that will satisfy all of these criteria, I will get rid of my car tomorrow.

Why would someone want to build a replica of a Ferrari? It's not about all about popularity....what kind of car do you have dude? Would you want a model of that? Even if it's a beater or something like that. At least it's not..just another Ferrari again(unless it is..and that's cool). At least it will be a nice change of pace. Some people like to build cars they can see-on the road-everyday. (there should be more of those anyway...)
Wagons are awsome dude! Minivans used to almost be cool..but pretty much suck anymore. And shit..they are pretty roomy when people need some privacy to lay it out and get it in anyway;) Less chance of hurting yourself....

I personally drive a Camry, and while it is a nice and reliable ride, it is boring and I would not want to build a replica of it. But maybe some people do. To each their own.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend. Tigeraid, I admire your skill and your cars are very lifelike. I have to wonder though, how much do you charge for your services? Detailed replicas like yours seem extremely time consuming and I would imagine you have to charge quite a bit to make it worth your while.

Nice builds, tiger. I think you've built enough station wagons for the decade! :wink: I used to have a Ford Escort station wagon. Laugh all you want, but I loved that car; it was cheap, reliable, and carried lots of stuff.

its incredible how diffeent cars are in diffeent parts of the world, my first thought was "what the hell is that?" then i read that it was a caprice wagon, then im like, "ok, cool...whats that? we dont get most of these cars in Australia, so its interesting, they are very nicely built, and im not much of a station wagon guy, but i know what your saying, im the same when GTfour celica gets labeled as a grocery getter. but, im rambling, great builds!! love the Lotus 7, unique!!

I can't recall offhand if Holden used the B-Body in Australia or not... for example, the A-Body platform, which is the Chevelle, Monte Carlo, etc... in North America is your older Monaros and whatnot. Did you guys have a platform one size up from them? If so, that was "your" Caprice. :p

My hat is off to you for making all those wagons. Each one I think is a unique and cool subject. I have never seen so many in one place at a time. I used to drive a Buick wagon when I was a cab driver and I can easily see why you would like it so much. Anywho, you sure had a very productive year, I wish I could finish just one in that time. Great job on all of them, especially the Super Charger Funnycar.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I would never personally build these but your builds are awesome. I love that you tackle these wagons with such desire. All of your builds are great and I follow everyone. I still love the "ricer" camaro though. lol

Ya, the ricer Camaro is unfortunately becoming my most popular model this year... I'm not old, but I guess I just don't "get" it. :uhoh:
