HF dash

So does anyone know if the HF dash is any different than the other crx models? like the shape and such?

I found a guy with a mint 90 crx hf dash, he says its grey. I imagine that is "off black". Did the hf come in any other colors than the rest of them? Like is it possible that it really is just all grey, I just dont want to drive all the way out to this guy to find out the dash has a different shape than my crx did, or that its really all grey and not black and grey.

SHAPE == SAME

Color == blue and black, maybe one other... they were pretty basic.

the only thing that may be different is the lack of "bells and whistles" that other models had, such as the fog light switch, etc. The holes for them are still there, but the switch isn't there.. its' just a plug in the hole.

While you're in there, ripping the dash out and such, remember to take out the main support and cut pieces out of the sections that don't have bolt holes, to save weight. Keep it all in one piece, just cut sections out between holes.

Alright, cool. Its probably like the difference between the dx and std..the standard has the same shape and color scheme but all the panels except the dash and half the door panel are plastic and not vinyl.

the entire CRX HF dash is plastic, except the front "soft" part... iirc.

HF = cheap and light... but now that I think about it, the top part is all vinyl covered and "soft"... not "soft soft" like a door panel, but you can push on it and it will move.

it's hard foam under vinyl, just like the other ones... so yes, they're exactly the same dash.

Sweet, thats what I want. I miss my crx "feel". I still dunno why the hatches seats are so damn much higher, but I cant imagine it would feel right if I lowered them with the current dash. The cars dimensions just HAVE to be different. I got in a crx in the junkyard and it just felt familiar. I hope it feels like that once I swap the dash out. Like for instance I KNOW the shift linkage is the same length but for some reason my hand is like 6" away from the stereo in 5th now. In my crx I could rest my palm on the shifter and hit the presets easily, granted I had a dc short shifter...but the longer shifter should reach farther lol.

it should feel "better" if you're looking for "lower" inside height... swap out your seats for some Prelude Si or CRX Si seats (almost same height)

The seat rails in the hatch (and the pans) iirc are different, they made them higher, for american "height" restrictions... (we're taller than Japs.) They would have done this for more leg room, as headroom isn't really an issue in a Hatch.

Well it wasnt an issue in the crx either, I had a good 4 in of headroom. and I know the rails sit higher. And the driving position is higher as my legs arent like straight out in front of me.

Why do our threads always turn into 2 hour conversations? are we both THAT life-less?... lol

The CRX sits much nicer, IMO, I prefer having my legs as straight as possible.. hence the 'lude seats in my car, which I'll be taking pics of (and other parts) during the holiday.

Yeah, if you get that CRX dash in there, and the seats, you'll be a camper for sure... I've seen ppl that had it done, sits SO MUCH nicer, and you look a lil leaner sitting in the car lower too.. plus, think of the "performance advantage" of your 130+ lbs of ass sitting an inch or two lower... lower center of gravity by .040" or so :P

(it's not really a performance advantage, b/c there are several other factors there... and it's only .040"... but it's a good excuse if you need one to modify your car)

BTW, since Si seats are getting harder to come by, the '88 'lude Si seats bolt in on the outside rails, the inside require slight modification, and you can't just change the rails... but they sit perfect on the outside rails, and you get side bolster adjustment. :D

Going to watch a Movie w/ wifey, I'll check up on you before I go to bed pry, if not in the morning before I leave.
