tps location

i have a1997 ford explorer and it runs under power but let off throttle it stalls .i was told it could be the throttle position sensor this truck is all new to me raised on chevrolets. wondering where tps is located

Welcome to the forum!
The TPS is located on the throttle body, opposite the throttle cable. There will be 3 wires going to the TPS, a 5V reference, a ground, and an output. If you are familiar with potentiometers, that's all the TPS is. And by the way, GM uses them too. :)
You can quite easily test the TPS for linearity if you have a multimeter. If you are interested in how, post back and we'll walk you through it.
I'd suggest testing the TPS before shotgunning it out since there are other things that could cause the stalling. You could also have an Idle Air Control that isn't working right, an EGR system that isn't closing the EGR valve fully at no throttle, etc.
