i have a 97 buick lesabre custom and for some odd reason when i try to lay on the gas, it kind of stutters, like its trying but it kind of sputters and coughs. needless to say its not a good thing on the highway. i think it may be the fuel pump the car reads about 160,000 miles but the engine and transmission are faily new with about 50,000 miles each, plus my oil pressure gauge always lurks around the orange even though i get regular oil changes and always check and top off the oil. i was told that as these 3800s get older the oil pressure drops and that it was normal, but im tryin to see if its something else. any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Oil presssure has no effect on the " stutter", this can be caused by a bad, plug, wire, slipping trans tcc, and possibly a faulty tpps, reasonable diagnostic steps must be taken to pinpoint this, a scan for misfire counts, a scan for tps activity and lastly a a scan for trans slippage errors.

Same problem as creslevi. Check your plugs and wires first.
